Yousef launches Circus Recordings
April 21, 2008
Following the success of the Circus events and driven by a desire to get back in the studio and make music, Yousef (dj and Circus promoter) has launched Circus Recordings.
Based around the musical direction and spectrum of the Circus events, come the beginnings of the new label… With the sound of Circus appealing to the clubs loyal fan base and way beyond (the club message board is one of the busiest in Europe for an independent club, with 4million hits in January alone), it was only a matter of time before the label was born.
Having grown the Circus club brand from humble beginnings to the world renowned events empire it is today has been quite a ride. Starting in a small 400 capacity venue created specifically for Yousef to play in his home town of Liverpool, Circus has grown exponentially and can now say that they have hosted the world famous “Radio 1 Essential Mix Live” plus winning UK Club of the Year.
Their success has been built on bringing together stunning selections of DJ talent and offering the widest spectrum of music within the frame of electronica, house and techno. Circus has hosted some of the most incredible parties Liverpool or the UK (or anywhere for that matter) has seen - from Cox’s techno to Luciano’s deep moods to Fatboy’s party anthems to Garnier’s epic journeys, to Sasha’s slick soundscapes and Moodymann’s Detroit beats - Circus have been smashing it on a monthly basis with queues of up to 1500 people for their parties.
The first release on Circus Recordings is scheduled for May 5th 2008 and is a two track EP from the man himself – ‘Letter To No One’ and ‘Purple Rage’. Between the two tracks they cover the current climate at Circus - forward thinking electronica and techno with house flavours and melodic hooks and are a perfect introduction to the dancefloor bombs to follow on this most exciting of new labels.
