So, who is Will Bailey
A Brummy lad doing what he loves

How did you start DJing?

Started back in 1998 after listenin to Radio 1 every weekend. Just had to
have a go myself as I  loved the music so much.   Saved up and got an awful
pair of belt drive decks and started from there.
.
How would you describe your style?

My style at the moment is a mix of wonky electro and tech.

What actually makes the Will Bailey style though?

Id have to say the basslines in the music I play. Ive always loved the
basslines in house music and so my style is very bass orientated.

So where did your style emerge from?

My style comes from a mix of old skool, drum and bass, Zinc and Fabio, The
Prodigy and funk and disco.

A lot of DJ’s and producers have their own influences, who would yours be?

My main inluences are Sebastien Leger, Micky Slim, Mark Knight, Dinsdale,
Dave Spoon and Martijn Ten Velden.

Have you been up to much in the studio?

Am working on remix for Toolroom at the moment along with a new EP for my
label Simma Records.

Who would you love to work with ?

Id love to work with any of the above artists but most of all it would have
to be Martijn.

Do you think DJs have to produce nowadays to really make their mark?
.
I think so yes more now than ever, there are a lot of very talented and
technically gifted DJs out there but sadly many of them may never get the
chance to showcase their talent.

You have been playing all over the place recently but which clubs would you
like to play at?
.
I would love to play at Ministry of Sound and of course Space, Ibiza. Any where with a fat sound system is always good to.

So what is the next move for Will Bailey?
I want to travel more with my Djing, hoping to get out to Australia and
South America again. On the production side I want to do some remixes for
more artists who I admire like Martijn and Dave Spoon.  And more
collaborations with Digital Filth after the recent success of our first
track together ‘ Krusher’.

What would you say has been the highlight of your career so far?

Id say it is out of my tour of Brazil, my remix of Dinsdale and Mark Knight
being released on Toolroom and playing the main room of Godskitchen after
Eric Prydz and D Ramirez.

It would be interesting to see what such a young DJ could advise any other
up and coming DJs?.

Work hard but enjoy every minute of it!

Your playing up in Leeds for Purrfect Electro on the 16th March. What can we
expect from you ?

Cant wait for this. Leeds sounds like one hell of a party. I wanna give the
people of Leeds a nice slab of dirty wonky electronic music.
