The Infinite Monkey Project

What is the Infinite Monkey Project?
The Infinite Monkey Project is a plan to create a song based on the principles from the following theory: ?Due to the nature of infinity, a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard will almost surely eventually type every book in the Bibliotheque Nationale de France? Borel-Cantelli 1913.
It is also stated that an infinite number of monkey?s given an infinite number of typewriters would eventually type the complete works of Shakespeare!
OK great, but who uses typewriters anymore. And when did Shakespeare last have a hit single? Time to get all modern on the theory don?t you agree?
So what has this got to do with T9?
Even if you?re not familiar with T9, you have probably used their software already; they are responsible for the majority of predictive text software around today. Anyone for example with a Nokia phone or palm pilot of some kind will have used T9 software. So who better to predict a future classic hit single than the undisputed kings of predictive text?
Having trawled through Europe?s burgeoning new musical talent, T9 located a range of exciting artists, with musical expertise transcending a range of genres and influences. The artists will be representing the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy and will be aiming to put the Infinite Monkey theory to the test (or should that be text) by enlisting the public as the monkeys to create the lyrics of a song.
The project will be spearheaded by ultra talented UK musician / producer Sparo. Please see ?Meet The Artists? at the bottom of this document for further details of each artist involved.
The concept is simple; get budding lyricists to text a word to the website, any word, one that you feel should be included into the lyrics of the song (don?t forget common words like: if, and, the ? they?ll increase your chances of being included in the final song).
These words will be collected as they arrive and when any grammatically correct (but not necessarily sensible) sentences are formed, they will be short-listed for the final song.
When the artists have sufficient content they will produce the final song for download release. Any of the contributing lyricists will be contacted by their text number and they will automatically qualify for a ?reward?. In each country, the contributors will receive a royalty from the song if it hits the [country] top 10 (it probably won’t be much - spread amongst all the artists, but hey, contributing lyricists will become published songwriters and have the cheque to prove it).
A CD will then be put together for the contributing lyricists as a memento. CDs may be a thing of the past, but, they might be able to be put it on the wall as a piece of art!
This random lyric generation could reveal a nation?s hidden consciousness (putting a lot of psychiatrists out of work) and give rise to what T9 believes is a new freedom of expression.
