Tetine - A Historia Da Garcia
September 28, 2006
Tetine are Brazilian artists/musicians Bruno Verner and Eliete Mejorado and are currently darlings of Sao Paulo?s electric ?avant garde? music scene. Having woo?d South America, they deliver their first 12? on legendary UK Imprint Soul Jazz Records.
Having been described as ‘A golden egg amongst boring identical farm? by Brasil’s main music critic?s Pedro Alexandre Sanches and Jotabe Medeiros Tetine unite underground electronic music with Brazilian dark sambas, performance art, spoken word, super 8 movies and whatever comes into their heads.
Running their own label ?High School Records? Tetine have released a number of albums and created a multitude of sound works from orchestral pieces to Electro Punk and Baile Funk through to Miami Bass-driven tunes they also made a series of ritualistic performances and have extensively exhibited art films and video throughout Europe and South America.
Recent work includes an album release in the UK on Scanner?s Sulphur imprint, running their highly acclaimed ?Slum Dunk? radio art show on London?s Resonance FM, compiling compilations for Mr Bongo (?Slum Dunk Presents Funk Carioca?) and Soul Jazz (?The Sexual Life of Savages?) as well as performing at Sonar 2006.
?A Historia da Garcia? is an acid-laden Brazilian synth-funk odyssey with enough pop sensibilities to keep any dancefloor grinding followed by an unpredictably long and relaxed soundtrack-esque 10 minute epic ?Slum Dunk? this single gives a snapshot of the diversity that Tetine have to offer so keep an eye out for this duo!
