Skookum
May 11, 2006
Skookum continues with its reputation of no-nonsense sounds and hard hitting party antics as it rolls into June. Once again, covering the wide spectrum of house in all its mutations Skookum promises a disco riot. Taking things deep, jackin, soulful, and even a little bit electro this party will stand as a tribute to two of the most influential cities in house?. London and Chicago. Bringing in advocates of each city to sow beats seamlessly together this promises to be an epic Skookum adventure
Gene Farris flies the Chicago flag whom, amongst other DJ luminaries including DJ Sneak, Paul Johnson, Derrick Carter, DJ Rush and Ron Trent, was one of the key figures in the 90s movement that brought jackin house to our shores. Farris alone has a catalogue of productions, spanning over 40 releases on labels including Defected/Fluential, Soma Records & Siesta Music and is still on top of his game citing house music as his one and only true love.
Flying the St. George cross will be Nathan Doe and Nick Carter representing their Deepsouth-soundsystem which falls under their Deepsouth Music banner; a collective of 4 London based lads who incorporate their productions and their London club night to consistent approval and acclaim. Previous guests at their club night have included Inland Knights, Nathan Coles and Eddie Richards? and their credentials just keep growing.
And as always the musical glue holding the whole thing together comes from super residents Dom Chung and Sean Brosnan who, undoubtedly have a deep affiliation with their capital city will be sure to be pay homage to their Chicago counterparts.
