samurai.fm 5th Anniversary

April 28, 2008

In five years of service samurai.fm has grown to become established as one of the most respected and trusted guides to global contemporary music. Through hosting exclusive shows from artists, labels and organisations at the cutting edge of their field, it has become the destination for discerning music fans from around the world.

To celebrate five years of forward thinking broadcasting, samurai.fm will be hosting a series of exciting events in London and Manchester as well as the station’s spiritual home of Tokyo during May, showcasing samurai.fm residents alongside some of our favourite artists.

London

We celebrate in London on Friday 23rd May with a rare appearance from the reigning king of the Scandinavian cosmic/Nu disco scene : Lindstrom. Previewing brand new material from his forthcoming album, he will be performing an intimate live set at one of the East End’s best kept secrets - the 300 capacity Visions Video Bar in Dalton. This is one gig not to be missed!

Supporting him will be NYC legend DJ Cosmo, one of the few artists to guest at David Mancuso’s Loft parties and London blog/DJ and production duo Allez Allez - two cats who are swiftly gaining recognition as the savviest tastemakers in the blogosphere alongside Simon ‘Phonica’ Rigg and local samurai.fm residents Future Sound of Clapton and our man (actually girl) in Amsterdam, Mamiko Motto.

Because of the size of the venue we’re selling advance tickets for this leg of the celebrations, so don’t miss out - BUY ONLINE AT www.urgoing.to/samuraifm

Manchester @ Futuresonic Festival

3 weeks earlier, May 4th sees samurai.fm programming the Sunday evening of the Futuresonic festival at one of the coolest new venues in Manchester, the Deaf Institute . Get Physical’s moonlighting superstars Junior Boys will be dishing up a fine plate of their delicious deep disco, with live performances from DC Recording’s Kelpe and the incredible James Rutledge under his Pedro moniker.

Tokyo

On Saturday 24th May the action moves to three floors of club Unit in Tokyo, where we link up with Real Grooves to present live performances from Dandy Jack and Butane showcasing an album release, alongside samurai.fm residents and friends. This is the first samurai.fm event at Unit after years of supporting the infamous RG events at the soon to be closing legendary Space Lab Yellow club.

We hope you can join us to celebrate 5 very special years of groundbreaking music and we look forward to another 5 years of online innovation. NEW MUSIC RADIO.
