Robyn – Handle Me
9/09/2007Robyn follows her number one single ‘With Every Heartbeat’ with ‘Handle Me’. ‘Handle Me’ is as feisty as pop songs come; full of hip hop flavoured attitude and with a chorus that should be heard across schoolyards for months to come. ‘Handle Me’ is taken from her silver selling, eponymous album ‘Robyn’.
Since the demise of the Spice Girls, ‘girl power’ is perhaps a term that should be used sparingly, but Robyn is it personified. An ass-kicking blond woman, who blasted through the industry bullshit and made startling, profound, honest pop music all of her own. And new single ‘Handle Me’ is just this and more.
Behind Robyn’s number one single, ‘With Every Heartbeat’, lies an incredible journey. From travelling around Europe with her parents avant-garde theatre company as a child, to getting signed at the age of 15 and spending most of her late teens in NYC. Her huge international hit ‘Show Me Love’ wrote her into pop history books and she went on to sell millions of records across the word.
Then in a completely unprecedented move by a mainstream pop artist she bought herself out of her major label deal to become the CEO of her own company, Konichiwa Records, in 2003. Now she’s pulled off the comeback of the year. And this time it has all been on her terms.
To coincide with the release of ‘Handle Me’, Robyn is heading out on her first UK tour. Dates below.
Handle Me will be released on CD, 7” and 12” and will be backed by new Robyn tracks and remixes from the likes of Björn Yttling (from Peter, Bjorn and John), Williams, Ortzrocka and Soul Seekers.
