Riley & Durrant – Hollow
25/07/2007‘Hollow’ is the lead single taken from the debut album ‘Research & Development’ from Award-winning radio presenters, international DJ’s, and remix and production artists to some of the biggest artists and labels in the world (deep breath…) Riley & Durrant.
Featuring the exceptional vocal talents of Gina Dootson (also featured on numerous other singles on this album) ‘Hollow’ is a glorious slice of uplifting melodic house music that sets the tone for the rest of the album, which is already a firm fixture on the Galaxy Radio Playlist. Featuring mixes from Hauswerks and a plethora of Radio edits / dubs and even an acoustic version, ‘Hollow’ looks set to take not only the clubscene but the radio world and much much more in it’s stride.
Having met behind the decks at the now deceased Gatecrasher in Sheffield, Riley & Durrant quickly formed a strong partnership both having highly skilled musical backgrounds (classically trained in piano, keyboards, violin, and drums). Early on, the decision was to focus on their own production with first track ‘Candesco’ (feat. on this album) becoming a true trance anthem after being picked up by the biggest DJ in the world- Tiësto, being a highlight of his record-breaking first 25,000 capacity ‘Tiësto In Concert’, Holland. Following this, the remix work came flooding in and names that have been under the Riley & Durrant knife incl ude Way Out West, Sinead O’Connor and Armin Van Buuren.
The pair’s hectic DJ Diary sees them tour the world with gigs taking them across Russia, Asia, Europe and USA regularly rocking clubs like Cream, Godskitchen, Slinky, Passion Goodgreef, Judgement Sunday and their diverse play list sees them booked them alongside the likes of Tiësto, Sasha and Pete Tong.
The stunning debut artist album ‘Research & Development’ features 12 brand new tracks with a variety of singers, songwriters, musicians and engineers from scenes as varied as folk, indie, house, minimal, trance and electro making their first album impossible to pigeon hole without losing their unique sound. It’s the same combination of electronic beats, big basslines, melancholic vocals, guitars, synths and strings that you’ll hear in a Riley & Durrant DJ set, but carefully brought together to create something that works as well in the club as it does on a Sunday afternoon.
