Radio 1 - Live From Planet Love WKD 2006

Live From Planet Love WKD 2006 Radio 1 will be broadcasting live for the very first time from Planet Love at Shane’s Castle in County Antrim on Saturday 9th September.

Now in it’s 8th year, N. Ireland’s Planet Love festival is bigger and better than ever and Radio 1 will be there to bring listeners all the highlights live from the Radio 1 Love Arena stage, the main stage on the festival site. With six hours of the best live dance music from Ireland’s leading dance music festival, Radio 1’s coverage from Planet Love represents the last dance festival brought to the nation’s listeners by the station this summer.

This year, Radio 1 has broadcast live from Coloursfest in Glasgow, Escape Into The Park in Swansea and Global Gathering in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Planet Love is the last this year from the four UK regions. Judge Jules kicks off Radio 1’s coverage at 7pm that day, he will be giving listeners a treat with a storming DJ set from the Radio 1 Love Arena stage. He will be followed on-stage by special guest Mauro Picotto with a live DJ set. Also passing through for a chat will be one of dance music’s rising stars and fellow Radio 1 DJ Eddie Halliwell who will talk about his DJ set from the Goodgreef Arena and about starting a brand new Thursday night show on Radio 1 from the end of September.

Local hero Fergie continues Radio 1’s coverage of Planet Love at 11pm with a live show from backstage in the Radio 1 studio. Fergie will be welcoming some special guests before running over to the Radio 1 Love Arena main stage for a live DJ set. At 1am comes the a special Planet Love edition of the world-famous Essential Mix, Christopher Lawrence kicks off proceedings and hands over to Paul Van Dyk who will beam the second hour of the Essential Mix to close Radio 1’s coverage of Planet Love.
