Pure - Set To Launch

June 20, 2006

The hype surrounding the biggest club launch to hit the nation for years spread like ripples across clubland. For weeks, people strained to hear what was going on behind the covered glass frontage within the Printworks development, and could only detect the buzz of workmen hard at their toil; could only imagine at what would result from their labours. And for weeks, a simple message went across on flyers and posters across the north ? believe the hype!

Well, the wait is over. You believed, and now you will be rewarded for that belief. On Friday June 30th the doors will be thrown open for the first time on a brand new superclub. Pure. Manchester has always been a focus for house music and dance culture, and once again will be the epicentre of the action, with the most important new venture in the scene for many years located in the pulsing heart of this city.

Backed by some of the wisest heads in clubland, the existing space has been gutted and completely rebuilt. ?2.5million and several months later, we have a gorgeous 2,500 capacity club, spread over different rooms, different floors. Pure does exactly what it says on the tin? a nightclub in its purest form where the most important aspects, such as a ?300,000 Funktion 1 soundsystem, and the latest licence in the city (6am) were the first items for consideration.

Aside from that, and the massive Main Room, there?s the Blue Room, the Player?s Lounge (offering VIP and dining facilities) and V.V.I.P. private rooms for after-shows etc, which are accessed by their own entrance, and private lift, offering secure and secluded views over the rest of the club. There is the potential for gigs and live music, as well as the stand-alone Magic Bar, with barmen trained in the art of close-up magic.

The party kicks off at the end of June, and who better to launch this rather fabulous venue than the good people at hed kandi, including David Dunne, Andrew Daniels and Jason Vereker. The party will be broadcast live on Galaxy Radio from 11pm, so if you can?t make it down to this auspicious occasion? be sure to turn on, tune in, and bounce around your living room. hed kandi will be back once a month as part of the roster of Fridays, under the Pure Sessions badge? with yet more exciting Friday parties to be announced in due course.

The fiesta continues on the Saturday with the launch of the Saturdays Are Pure. The brief is clear - more of an up-front affair with DJ Bodum (www.dj-bodum.com) filling the heavenly space of Main Room with some celestial disco, and the soundtrack in the Funktion Room will be more funky house in orientation.

This promises to be the biggest summer party to hit clubland outside of that little rock in the Med. The dance scene seems to have lost its way of late, morphing into all manner of freakish directions. But this? this is the distillation of what it was? and remains? all about.
