MR.Spring - Not For Rent EP
April 28, 2008
Taken from the album (Not For Sale) by Ireland’s No.1 DJ/Producer and Radio Host – MR. Spring – the Not For Rent EP contains 4 tracks of highly original multi-flavoured music that give a nod to styles present, past, and as yet undiscovered. MR. Spring is a master of production, which is evident as the tracks here encompass shades of House, Downtempo, Leftfield Electronica, Funk, and Disco. This is an EP for those people for whom variety is the spice of life, and are of an eclectic persuasion.
When you check out the tracks you’ll immediately be transported into the wonderfully wild weird world of MR. Spring, or if you’re feeling really bold you might want to call him up…
“We’re also making a video for Bootleg, but the video is going to be done (like the track) on 1979 gear! So we have a vintage tube video camera on the way from Russia to film with. There’s also an 8-track cart being released by a Slovak company who cater for the 8-track revival scene. Yes, I know some videos have shots of people playing 8-tracks, but they are mock-ups, we are doing the real thing! If you take a quick look on ebay or google for 8-track, you will see a busy little scene exists. Are you feeling the vibe on this? All analogue equipment, no laptops, no mouse/graphics, no fuc*ing plug-ins, mastered to real tape, available on 8-track, flares, Ford Capri and Datsun Z-Cars for the win! Also: ban the whale, 3-day week, and rear-wheel drive cars are superior.”
MR. Spring is Ireland’s hardest working DJ, consistently drawing big crowds in the clubs and guesting at all the major festivals including Creamfields, Homelands, Hi-Fi, and Planetlove. He is also the resident and host to The Sessions Tour – a monthly live national broadcast on RTE 2FM from clubs and events around the country, and also holds down his award winning weekly dance show every Saturday night on RTE 2FM. He’s been in the game since ’92, so he knows his onions.
The Not For Rent EP features four of the tunes that MR. Spring would have released had the vinyl scene been stronger these last few years. In today’s marketplace people get their music by other means and DJs are less inclined to use vinyl, so acknowledging that fact he is making his highly varied dance tracks available digitally, and of course on 8-track!
