Margaret Dygas Heads to Manchester Club, Kaluki

June 25, 2007

Can’t get enough of the sumptuously deep undulating sounds of minimal and techno? If so, then head down to Kaluki on Saturday the 14th July, where Get Physical diva Margaret Dygas heads to Sankey’s for a night of Berlin soaked überism.

One of the main players at Europe’s hippest club, Panorama Bar in Berlin, Margaret Dygas is also the Queen of Cool on the underground club circuits of East Europe, London, Amsterdam, and Ibiza; regularly taking in venues such as Fabric, Space, DC10 and Club 11.

Known for her cutting-edge image as much as her music, the German fashionista is regarded as one of the very few minimal elite. A main player with the highly-regarded Get Physical Music Squad, which also manages techno mavens Booka Shade & M.A.N.D.Y, she has earned her tag as one of East Germany’s best female DJ exports.

Since its inception in June’ 06 Kaluki, founded up by its residents DJs Clark Kent (aka Neil Smallridge) and Ellesse, has quickly etched its mark on the Northern clubbing map. Enjoying round-the-block queues from a savvy and playful crowd who dig the quirky music policy that toggles from minimal-techno to full-bodied electro-house, it’s quickly managed to attract some of most credibly cool names on the contemporary music scene.

Says Neil Smallridge; “Kaluki attracts a fun loving crowd who really know their music; but aren’t too cool for school. We also try to keep the nights fresh and vibrant by mixing up the sharp-edged Djs which are breaking through the international scene, with those that we know can really get a crowd partying. It seems to have worked as each month we’re attracting a capacity crowd.”

Also joining Margaret on the deck will be popular residents Clarke Kent and Dj Ellesse while the Boutique plays hosts to Matt Lightfoot, Jenny Harrison, Gaz Leyland.
