Liverpool Soundcity announces next big things
May 03, 2008
With less than a month to go until the first ever Liverpool Sound City music festival takes to the stage, festival organisers have today announced the unsigned acts who will share the company of acclaimed artists such as Reverend and the Makers, Hercules and Love Affair and many more.
This is arguably one of the most exciting elements of the four day and night event taking place between 27 and 30 May in the Capital of Culture. Over 100 unsigned bands and solo artists will descend upon the city from as far as the United States, Japan and even Australia, in the hope of impressing the many music label executives attending the festival and conference.
Thousands of applications have flooded in to play Sound City and the select few have been chosen to represent the full music spectrum; from indie-rock to acoustic acts and from raucous new-wave rave to heart-tugging balladeers, the depth and breadth of budding musicians is vast and for all to enjoy
Taking some of the city’s coolest haunts including Revolution, The Cavern, Bumper, Magnet, Metropolitan, Alma de Cuba and 3345 Parr Street, the city will be inundated with fresh talent seeking to be the next big thing, and who knows which label boss or director might be passing when some of these guys get to play?
It’s all part of the magic of Liverpool Sound City which has been singled out by many as one of the unmissable music showcases of 2008. With less than four weeks to go, tickets and wrist bands are flying in a city synonymous for its music heritage.
