Hi:Fi South Update
12/04/2006Hi:Fi South is the brand new festival taking place over the last bank holiday weekend in May on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th. Located at the Matterley Bowl Estate near Winchester, its the first time a camping event has taken place on the site. The music bill is already making festival history by programming rock and dance deities such as Ian Brown, Hard Fi, Super Furry Animals, Oakenfold, Roni Size and Sasha and Digweed.
However, the organisers want guests to overdose on entertainment throughout the two days so have put together an eye-popping menu of extra curricular activities and attractions. After all festivals are not just famous for the music: they also revolve around one central element- FUN!
Hi:Fi South will feature:
Yoga
The World Record Attempt for the biggest outdoor yoga session will be attempted at this years HiFi festival. With over 20000 people expected to camp this gives the perfect opportunity to set a record that should stand for many years to come.
Roller Disco
Madonna?s latest video was shot at one, and no child of the eighties could forget the happy days spent roller-rocking to Michael Jackson tracks. This will be no ordinary roller disco because the kings of spin from Kiss FM are at the controls, providing a booty-shaking selection of phat n funky tracks.
Karaoke
When the drinks are rolling and spirits are high what better place to completely embarrass yourself than at a karaoke booth. This one has a special twist? you don?t perform to a backing track but to your own real life band. The best frontman will be rewarded with a Fender guitar signed by the bands playing the event!
AfterShock Games Arena
Aftershock are hosting their own arena fully of festival games which are the grown up equivalent of party games you?d play as kids. They will have a beyonc? castle which sees you bounce around on an inflatable that resembles the famous popstar?s posterior; dancing polls to swing
around, hot tubs with towels and swimming costumes provided plus a whole range of combat games and water fights.
Urban B Boy Arena
AfroDizzyScratch the Birmingham based Hip Hop promoters are bring their bboys to the festival for live beatboxing, breakdancing, body-popping, BMXing and Graffiti style spray painting. UK DMC Champion Blakey will be joining the WORLD DMC champion Skully to provide the beats.
Internet Caf?
Want to show off to your mates who didn?t manage to get tickets, well the internet caf? allows you to mail wish you were here messages direct from the action.
Lockers
The best ideas are always the simplest and what could be more convenient that lockers guarded by 24 hour security teams. You can lock up your jumpers, cigarettes, camera and for the price of ?5 relax in the knowledge your kit is safe and everything is on hand.
Outdoor Cinema
This year Hi-FI South will be hosting an Outdoor Cinema within the campsite area for up to two and a half thousand people. There will be a variety of cult films being projected on the large screen throughout the weekend.
PunchFunk
Popular south coast club promoters have their own festival arena playing a mixture of house, techno, electro and breaks.
On top of these attractions, the Hi:Fi festival would boast no less than six arenas per day hosted by some of the UK?s finest club brands including: Godskitchen, Hed Kandi, Polysexual & Slinky, Movement, Ali B?s Air and Radio Soulwax.

The event campsite opens at 10am on the Friday 26th and the music arenas kick off from 2pm ? 4am each day.
