Friendly - ?Homeboys Cry Out For More - Ride Baby Ride
November 16, 2006
You?ll know Friendly; he?s the Australian chap who?s been known for smashing up the breaks scene at clubs like Chew The Fat! And beyond. Well, following his excursions as ?Milke? Friendly (or simply Andrew to his mum) has been making inroads into other scenes and here he returns to drop his latest 12? on one of the UK?s fast rising electro house labels iO Music, sit up and take note.
His mission statement is simply ?dirty? and he mixes it up between breaks, electro house, bootlegs and oddities to create a bass heavy sweat fest.
A resident at Chew the Fat, Friendly has had a string of well received releases that have got everyone from The Plumps, Zane Lowe, Freq Nasty and Annie Mac jumping on board to give him support. 2006 has seen him remix the massive Justice Vs Simian monster ?We are Your Friends? under his ?Milke? guise touring China and signing to Electro House?s hottest label iO Music
This latest outing on iO Music sees Friendly dropping some electro house gems and who better than to give us the low-down on this new direction than Andrew himself:
?It’s got all the same energy and structure and sounds as other Friendly tracks, just the kick drum is in a different position. And as my mum always said, “The kick drum does not maketh the genre?, and she was right.
?There’s some really exciting stuff going on in house at the moment, so I’ve been playing a bit more of it, and these tracks reflect that?
Feeling free-er with music and being in charge of his own musical direction Andrew has broken down his musical boundaries and created two synth-heavy bleep ridden tracks aimed squarely at one place? the dance floor! Watch out for future Friendly remixes of Krafty Kuts and JC Vs The Rock Steady Crew!
