Freak N?Chic #18 is two debut releases from two new producers - ?Tom King and Jay Massive? and ?Marc Antona?. And, as a little bonus, :Terry: - one of
Freak N?Chic?s finest - responsible for 2005?s ?Stop Talking EP?, adds a remix to Tom King and Jay Massive.
Track one ?Our first time? comes from Tom King and Jay Massive. King and Massive first met in the toilets of London?s Fabric nightclub - where a friendship was born based on ?a world of hedonism, daftness and music with gaps?. A few years later, and bored one weekend, they made their first track - ?Our First Time?. Ghenacia was first made aware of the release mby another Freak N?Chic artist ? Jamie Jones - Ghenacia tried to sign the track, but was put off until this year. He finally got to sign it at the beginning of the summer and played the track almost every week on the DC10 terrace. ?Our First Time? is a simple groover; a slow, sleazy, teasing builder with interjected bleeps and bops.
Terry: - who has cemented his reputation as not only one of Freak N?Chic?s most prolific producers, but also one of the label?s prolific DJs ? strips back the layers to create a perfect afterhours track. If the original is the Chic, this is the Freak.
Marc Antona also releases his debut on Freak N?Chic with the subtly trippy groover ?Happy Martians?. Antona, after being a regular on the dancefloor of Freak N?Chic Parisian parties for years, signed his first release to Freak N?Chic this year. He has since been playing live at many of the Parisian hot-spot clubs ? including Le Batofar and Le Rex.
