BK - Under The Influence
February 15, 2007
There’s no denying it, when it comes to the harder end of dance music one man shines through as the most accomplished and innovative producer in the game and that man is BK. Over the last ten years his 100-plus 12” releases have provided the soundtrack to some 500-plus lost weekends for hundreds of thousands of clubbers worldwide!
No one producer has made such an impact in the pumping late night world of hard dance with his anthems like ‘Revolution’, ‘Music Is Moving’ and ‘Playing With Knives’ all enjoying support on national radio and on the main stage. Chances are if you’ve set foot in a club or festival catering for the harder end of dance music over the last decade you will have been witness to the devastation this man’s tunes bring. This is just the tip of the iceberg; BK’s second artist album is going to finally provide a definitive anthology for the man who can only be described as the king of the hard beats!
Following 2003’s debut Klub Kollaborations LP which saw BK team up with some of the leading players on the hard dance circuit his latest album ‘Under The Influence’ is a double album with CD 1 focusing on original productions. With 12 brand new tracks which see Ben ‘BK’ Keen join forces with hard dance heroes; Judge Jules, Lisa Lashes, Nick Sentience, Vinylgroover, DJ Kutski alongside future techno star and Carl Cox favourite Ali Wilson and cutting edge electro producers Fake Hero and Black Russian, not to mention his own cutting edge original productions to create a journey through tough house, breaks, techno, trance and hard dance .The theme of quality and innovation runs throughout the album as he ticks off sounds and styles like a twitcher ticks birds off his list but please note: this is no ‘vanity project’ as some artist albums can be! Separately each track holds its own against the finest examples in its genre and collectively this is the grand master at work…
For those lovers of his classics, CD 2 was recorded at the 50,000 capacity Global Gathering festival in August 2006. Performed live using computers, FX, keyboards and including exclusive live reworks of classic BK anthems from 1998 – present day in front of 7,000 screaming fans in the Polysexual Arena of this massive event it features 14 of the biggest selling tracks ever in hard dance all hand-picked from his very own catalogue of over 100 12″ releases and remixed live during the show to provide a rollercoaster of spine-tingling big room tunes amplified by the cries of the MC to make some noise - can you hear yourself scream!?
BK ‘Under The Influence’ is a double album that covers the entire spectrum of influences from the arguably the most influential music maker of anthems for those under the influence!
