Andrew Weatherall- The Bullet Catcher’s Apprentice e.p
October 06, 2006

This is the first ever ’solo’ release by Andrew Weatherall under his own name. Previously he had hidden behind group names, releasing records as Sabres Of Paradise and Two Lone Swordsmen (the former with Jagz Kooner and Gary Burns - later The Aloof - and the latter with producer Keith Tenniswood - aka Radioactive Man).
Weatherall should require no introduction, but in case he does (shame on you), here it is: Having forged a path against the mediocrity of popular music for two decades, as well as having co-produced the now-legendary ‘Screamadelica’ by Primal Scream (giving them a top twenty hit (no. 16) with ‘Loaded’ and inventing indie-dance in the process), he has still found time to run a number of labels, notably Sabres Of Paradise, Emissions and of course, Rotters Golf Club.
“The Bullet Catcher?s Apprentice” is a career-scanning yet forward-thinking behemoth of a release, taking clear sonic cues from his status as a dance, techno & house phenomenon whilst skillfully acknowledging his grandly professed love of protest music - Rockabilly, Soul, Rock ?n? Roll - from the mid 20th Century. No sooner than the tune “Feathers” hits the dance floor on the decks of the world?s music lovers, Weatherall will be found back at work DJing across the globe.
