Andi Durrants – Houseworks
May 22nd, 2007
As part of Radio Music Week Galaxy DJ Andi Durrant will be presenting a 2 hour rockumentary titled “Houseworks: A History of UK Dance Music”.
The in-depth show covers the different scenes and influential figures that have shaped dance music from the Prodigy through to The Hacienda, M25 free parties and 808 State. The show also looks at how dance music has broken through to be a commercial force with UK uber-bands of the late 90s like Faithless and Basement jaxx and into the superclubs like Cream, Gatecrasher and Godskitchen. Finally, Andi takes a look on what direction dance music is heading with its future stars.
Featuring studio interviews and contributions from amongst others Groove Armada, The Utah Saints, Paul Van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold the show follows on from Andi Durrants ‘Cut & Paste’ show that traced the history of sampling in dance and urban music (broadcast January 2007).
You can tune into ‘Houseworks’ across the whole Galaxy network: Galaxy Manchester, Galaxy Birmingham, Galaxy Yorkshire Galaxy North East and Galaxy DAB Digital Radio (London/Midlands/Scotland) and also the digital services of BSKYB and Virgin Media across the UK and online via www.galaxyfm.co.uk.
