AKA celebrates her 9th birthday

July 17, 2007

AKA celebrates her 9th birthday on Wednesday 25th July with a decadent Full Moon Party, taking inspiration from the hedonistic beach parties of Thailand and beyond…

Much loved by clubbers for its exceptional line-ups of underground DJ’s, respected by the bar industry for its vast selection of spirits, and cherished by those seeking a sophisticated haven for an after work cocktail – nine years on AKA continues to lead where others follow. And now that The End’s naughty little sister is almost in double figures, she no longer wants a tea party for her birthday, but a wild and wonderful Full Moon Party with some of the finest DJ’s spinning their very best tunes as the sun goes down.

Nothing beats the feeling of dancing outside on the beach, the sun setting on your face, cocktail in hand not a care in the world. Short of moving AKA to Thailand, or setting up home on the shores of the Thames, we’ve created the closest thing to a Thai beach party that you’ll ever find in central London.

Step over the threshold of AKA, and as the full moon rises above the palm trees, climb up to the jungle treehouse and sip on authentic Thai cocktails as the party unfolds below. The magical soundtrack will be provided by DJ Marky with a special party set, Luke Solomon playing his deep spangled disco, AKA favourites Sancho Panza bringing their carnival vibe, and obsessive vinyl junkie Aldo Vanucci with a masterful eclectic selection.

As the night goes on, slip downstairs to The End’s lounge as the music goes deeper, darker and a little bit sleazier. Layo will be serving up a fine musical medley of house, tech, breaks, and funk in his inimitable style, Simple Records’ Will Saul adds in slices of dubby, stripped back organic house grooves, Clandestino’s Miss Jools chips in with some delicious driving techno, and Players favourite Jim Wood mixes up some tasty house and electro.
