FM Belfast are Iceland’s best keep secret; a band with colourful energy that instantly captures your attention. Musically, they create inspiring electro-indie-pop and always put on an explosive, impulsive and unpredictable live show – with anything from 3 to 30 people – always hitting the high notes and always leaving you with a smile.
‘How To Make Friends’ is the debut album from the creative collective… Lyrically it covers everything from the VHS (a stage on from The Buggles), to Love, to a Tropical, Exotic Rocky Island, to Running Down The Street In Your Underwear… And the band do cover versions (re-working Rage Against The Machine and Technotronic) in ways you would least expect… Get ready for Fun…
Beginning as a living-room project with Ćrni PlĆŗseinn (vocals, computers, lights) and Lóa (vocals, percussion), ‘Pump’ became the first FM Belfast song created – a Christmas present for friends. Their first show, as still only a duo, took place in a cave on The Faeroe Islands, in the summer of 2006. Later in the Autumn came their first official Live Show at the Iceland Airwaves Festival – The annual Iceland Music event which showcases local and international talent to the music industry and beyond. Ćrni Vil (vocals, drum machine, falsetto) and Ćrvar (vocals) joined before that show and from here the band became a quartet, with some variations.

Giles Smith (secretsundaze) and Alex Ruello (Need2Soul) are proud to announce details of their new party ‘Lost in the Loft’.
With 15 years combined experience in running some of London’s best nights they both know a thing or two about putting on a good party.
Lost in The Loft will indeed be held in an East End loft. Details of the venue will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Joining resident Giles, we are extremely excited to welcome one of the most important and influential figures in House music the legendary Chez Damier.
Born and raised in Chicago some of his most respected work and for many some of the best House music ever made came from his partnership with Ron Trent releasing on Prescription. “The Morning Factory” (included on Giles secretsundaze Volume 2), “I Feel The Rhythm” and “Sometimes I Feel Like” are all stone cold classics.
He also released great tracks on the likes of his own Balance imprint and KMS (which are in the process of being re-issued).
Also guesting on the night is young hot shot Sven Weisemann (Mojuba).
Sven shows great maturity for a producer / DJ of his age (23) and his tracks vary from aquatic, warm, lush, dubby deep House to Detroit inspired grooves. His dj sets are much lauded and he plays regularly at the likes of Panorama and Tape in Berlin.
His new album Xine is forthcoming on Mojuba.
Lost in The Loft will provide a sanctuary to hear some of the finest deep House and Techno in a special space.

Thereās no question that Charlie May is a true purveyor of House Music, and he makes a welcome and long-overdue return with his debut single āApacheā from his new label imprint Mayhem.
Never one to travel in a straight musical line, Charlie fully exploits the opportunity to explore the length and breadth of his creative capacity with āApacheā. Charlie saysā¦
āIām feeling my way around, getting back into the solo headspace really, which is cool. Thereās so much cool techno stuff about at the moment which is really inspiring me.ā
Alongside the dance-floor orientated cuts on which he has built his reputation, Charlie straddles moods of ambient, techno and electronica whilst constantly maintaining a melodic and highly emotive core. The sound is familiar yet fresh.
āApacheā has a driving deep, dark bassline with endless textures and rhythms and trademark Charlie sounds. The scratchy chords give it that Detroitāesque sound, whilst muffled robotic-tinged orchestral flutters underpin a lush arpeggio of warm synths. āApacheā is the perfect first single from the man who knows all the right moves in creating his own brand of musicality.
2009 is going to be a big year for Charlie May⦠stepping out of the Sasha shadow, Charlie has a few new singles up his sleeve for labels such as La Tour, and is currently working on remixes for Glenn Morrison alongside Robert Babicz for Bedrock. Charlie also recently released a new mix compilation for Platipus under his Spooky moniker.
āIām focusing on singles for a bit but Iād also like to do an album – its something I really want to do. That would be a big achievement. Itās all guns blazing really ā watch this space.ā And you really shouldā¦
