LCD Soundsystem man clears up Britney Spears rift

LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy has spoken out about his legal fracas with Britney Spears.

After a fruitless attempt at collaborating with the US singer, James joked that he would sell Britney’s notebook on eBay, complete with notes and doodles from their writing session.

In a recent interview he said: “That was really funny. The Britney thing was a total joke. It’s true that she wrote stuff in a notebook. Her legal team attacked and immediately started sending me letters saying: ‘You don’t have a right to do that.’

“Holy crap, I’m a professional producer - I’m not going to sell something on eBay.”

By means of retaliation, James asked his advisors to make a similar threat and accuse Britney of vandalising his stationery.

He added: “I had my legal team tell her she defaced my property by writing in my notebook.

“We’ll see how that pans out. It’s still ongoing. It’s tied up in the courts. We’ll see who wins in the end.”

Satoshi Tomiie - New Album - The Masters Series

Satoshi Tomiie returns to The Masters Series for another flawless musical ride…

Satoshi hooks-up with Renaissance once again, marking their trilogy with another landmark mix, further confirming why he is considered a true master of house.

The Japanese-by-way-of-New-York Don takes us on a sublime, deep tech-house excursion that draws on some of the brightest luminaries at work in the scene today, from Radio Slave to Layo & Bushwacka!, Jimpster, Motorcitysoul, Marc Romboy, Mlle Caro & Franck Garcia, Jeff Bennett and many more besides… The result is a forward thinking musical blueprint, as Satoshi himself elaborates, “My definition of house remains the same - ‘an open minded, evolving form of dance music’”.

The mix, which spans two CDs, is further distinguished by the additional production, be it the keys Satoshi plays on the Shur-i-kan intro or the loops and FX he subtly weaves throughout, enhancing the compilation’s mood and flow. However, the cake is well and truly iced by an exclusive in the form of his own, brand new single; under the guise of ‘Mes’, Madrugada is Satoshi at his unheard finest that will surely have aficionados chomping at the bit.

Always easy on the ear, this is a mix which can be enjoyed any time or place.

Defected In the House at the 2nd Sunburn Festival, Goa India. 27th - 29th Dec 08

Sunburn is the new three day festival held at Candolim Beach, Goa; a cosmopolitan meeting place of international cultures. It is a melting pot where the best DJ’s from Europe and the West come together to meet India’s finest music talent and a new generation of clubbers. This is the second year of the event originally headlined in 07 by Above and Beyond, Carl Cox, John 00 Fleming and Axwell.

Every year a label is invited to host a stage at the festival, this year it is the turn of Defected Records who will take over the main stage on Saturday 27th December.

Of all the festivals around the world none can claim to be as alluring as this. As a location it is inextricably linked with dance music. Goa is the place to rediscover modern rave culture in a free-spirited and untainted environment. Along with its strengthening economy, the music scene in India is booming, but thankfully the pound hasn’t lost all it’s clout just yet; everything is affordable and an unforgettable experience will cost you far less than any festival in Europe. Sunburn has elevated the Indian club scene to a global level.

Defected further celebrate this event with a new release ‘Defected In the House – Goa 08’, a compilation mixed by India’s newest and brightest talent, DJ Pearl – as well as Defecteds’ finest ATFC and Simon Dunmore – which will be available locally in India as well as distributed around the world. Madonna and Guy Ritchie to divorce. - Other Music News

After months of speculation it seems Madonna and Guy Ritchie are set to divorce.

It was back in July when rumours of a marriage split first surfaced but Madonna instructed her spokeswoman to issue a statement at the time insisting there were “no plans” to divorce.

The couple also put on a show of unity at the UK premiere of Guy’s film RocknRolla and at Madonna’s birthday party.

Now reports claim a statement confirming their marriage is over has been prepared and is set to be released shortly.

A source told The Sun: “It’s very sad. They were a great couple and brilliant parents. They just couldn’t live together any more.”

Friends say Madonna wanted to wait until next year to announce the split after her Sweet and Sticky tour had finished. But Guy, 40, wants a divorce finalised before Christmas.

The source added: “Despite huge attempts to patch things up they both knew deep down that divorce was on the cards. It wasn’t a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’. They tried hard over the last few months but their fighting was getting out of control.

“The final straw came before Madonna started her US tour.

“Madonna wanted a highly stage-managed separation, with their split being announced when it was convenient for her. She didn’t want the distraction while she is trying to concentrate on her tour.

“But a series of rows around Guy’s 40th birthday last month were so bad that Madge ended up storming out of the house and Guy’s had enough.

“Guy said if they were going to split, it has to be now - and their marriage will finally be over in a matter of weeks.

“Madonna was dithering at first about whether a separation would be best or whether to go ahead with the divorce. She has now agreed with Guy that a divorce is the best thing to do.”

Guy is reportedly back in the UK from France, postponing filming of his new movie Sherlock Holmes, to tell his parents.

Britney Spears in booze ban - Other Music News

Britney Spears is making sure her new image and state of mind are mentioned as she embarks on her world tour by banning booze.

Britney has reportedly told friend she doesn’t want any alcohol near her on the tour.

However, even though the singer has admitted she’s struggled to get back in shape she has failed to give up one addiction - coffee.

A source told siad: “Brit loves her coffee - but since getting back into shape this is her only vice.

“Only water and coffee passes through her lips and she looks great. She has been through a lot but she is back to the Britney that we all know and love.”

Even though Britney has not yet confirmed when the world tour will take place she has confirmed she will perform for fans next year.

She’s signed up to AEG promotions for the concerts - the same company Madonna has used for her Sticky and Sweet tour.

Date Is Set For Snowbombing 09 - The 10th Birthday

After much speculation the dates for Snowbombing 2009 have been set in ice and the planning is in progress for the epic 10th birthday celebrations. Next year the mountainous marathon will start on Sunday 29th March and roll through to Sunday 4th April. This week traditionally sees loads of both snow and sunshine, and its position in the calendar is regarded as straddling both winter and spring, creating classic conditions of huge dumps of snow followed by blue skies. The perfect picturesque party platform!

For those unlucky enough to have missed the last 9 Snowbombing events then let us remind you of why you need to book your ticket now. An idyllic Austrian village in the valley of Mayrhofen plays host to 7 days of musical misbehaviour and snow-capped adventures. The frosty fiesta is like no other on the planet and you can look forward to 3 iconic igloo parties at the top of the mountains in the middle of night with 300 like minded ravers, a fancy dress street party hosted by The Cuban Brothers, the hidden forest clearing which last year played host to an event defining set from Madness, or the back country party in the forgotten valley that can be found through a wild forest, past the waterfall and across the snowfields where a 200 year old wooden farmstead plays host to a traditional and unforgettable night of Austrian food, drink and games.

This is the backdrop for one of the most invigorating festivals in the world upon which the Snowbombing team paint a rich tapestry of musical mayhem with the world’s biggest live acts and artists playing across 7 unique venues. Previous years have seen Madness, Foals, Dirty Pretty Things, The Pigeon Detectives, The Whip, Does It Offend You, Yeah, Calvin Harris, Young Knives, The Enemy, SMD, Stanton Warriors, Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank, Scratch Perverts and some of the UK’s most prolific promoters join the party.

Add to this the now legendary King of Mountain New Band competition, the Highway To Hell comp that see pro-boarders compete in games including Pimp My Ride, Snow Basket Ball and other typically Snowbombing challenges there’s room for the more adventurous among you. Or if sipping rose atop and sun drenched plateau outside an igloo watching a snowball fight is more your scene then you are more than catered for, too.

Please make a note of the new dates and pass it round, post it on yer fridge door, get it tattooed across your forehead and if you’re in the Red Arrows, write it in the sky in that sexy white smoke you impressed us with all summer long.

With the Strass and Manni’s already sold out, there is a real buzz out there about SB: 09…and for the tenth birthday, you can be sure they will be really pushing the envelope - and re-defining what you can expect from a week in the Alps…just like they did a decade ago.

Sash! Feat Stunt ‘Raindrops (Encore Une Fois) - Sash! ‘The Best Of’ album

After 10 years of huge success, selling over 17 million albums worldwide and earning more than 65 Gold and Platinum awards, Sash! are set to storm back into the charts with Raindrops (Encore Une Fois) featuring Stunt, a mash-up of Sash!’s huge 1997 number 2 hit ‘Encore Une Fois’ and ‘Raindrops’ by Stunt – the producer duo Mark Dowling and Simon, and vocalist Molly Smithen Dowes.

Created in 1995, Sash! are Sascha Lappessen, Thomas “Alisson” Lüdke, and Ralf Kappmeier. Their first success came with the European club hit, ‘It’s My Life’, but it wasn’t until 1997 that they had their big break with the release of ‘Encore Une Fois’. With Sabine Ohmes on vocals, it was a perfect mix of pop, progressive house and trance beats, which reached number 2 in the UK singles chart, number 1 in the US dance charts and made the top 10 of five other countries’ singles charts. In the same year, Sash! produced ‘Ecuador’ and ‘Stay’, which both reached #2 in the UK, followed by ‘La Primavera’ in 1998, which reached #3 along with ‘Mysterious Times’ (#2) and ‘Move Mania’ (#8). The success continued in 2000 with the release of ‘Adelante’ (#2) and with ‘Just Around The Hill’ and ‘With My Own Eyes’, which reached #8 and #10 respectively.

Sash! have worked with a number of high profile artists, including Boy George, Sarah Brightman, Adrian Rodriguez, Shannon, Tina Cousins and Dr. Alban and have been asked to remix Jean Michel Jarre, Todd Terry, OMD and Kylie Minogue, enjoying worldwide success everywhere from the USA and New Zealand to Russia, Australia and Japan.

Hard2Beat has had a phenomenal year. After notching up four consecutive top five hits from Basshunter, H ‘two’ O Feat Platnum and September, they have made history, becoming the first dance imprint to ever achieve this with their first four releases.

The Voice of C&C Music Factory Returns To The Dancefloor

One of the most recognised voices in dance music is making a welcome return. Freedom Williams was the voice of C & C Music Factory and ruled dancefloors through the 90’s with his distinctive rap. He sold millions of records including ‘Gonna Make You Sweat’ and ‘Things That Make You Go Hmmm’. Now he is set to tear up dancefloors worldwide once again with ‘Mindbounce’ a hip house collaboration with New York production outfit Speakerbox. The track is due out on hot New York label Sea To Sun Records in late November.

Freedom Williams grew up in Queens, New York, alongside hip hop legends like RUN DMC, Jam Master Jay and LL Cool J. He was one of the early innovators, rocking local basement parties in the 80’s as MC Tiny Tim. His reputation grew and by the late 80’s his voice was heard on dancefloors all over the world. He remains heavily involved in music, focusing on Freedom Williams Entertainment and the development of new artists. Earlier this year he was played the instrumental version of Speakerbox’s ‘Mindbounce’ by a mutual friend and was immediately inspired to get back behind the mic. The result is a dark, stylish slice of hip house that is tearing up dancefloors everywhere.

Speakerbox a.k.a New York producers Anton Bass, Sted-E and Anthony Fonseca are gaining a fearsome reputation in New York house music circles, both as producers and as a live act. Their first release ‘Time’ was nominated for an International Dance Award and topped the Billboard Dance Charts. This was quickly followed by another big track, ‘Dancefloor’ featuring a vocal from Crystal Waters.

Individually, Anthony Fonseca is currently riding high on Beatport with Fonseca vs Lane ‘Afterparty’ and Anton Bass produced the last release on Sea To Sun, Sylvia Tosun’s ‘Underlying Feeling’, a track which continues to make a big impact both in the UK and the US. The Speakerbox boys are busy making waves…

With ‘Mindbounce’ Freedom Williams proves that his vocals can cut up the contemporary dancefloors as well as they ever did. Clubland should keep fingers crossed that he’s back for good.
