He’s been labeled as Carl Cox’s protégé (having supported Carl on tour across the world for the last two years as well as working together on tracks past and present in the studio on Carls’ forthcoming artist album- more news re this coming soon) but Jon Rundell is certainly making waves of his own and is spreading his sound that his loyal army of A-list supporters have already picked up on. With more than enough skill to back up the hype, its not surprising that Jon Rundell’s second release on Vandit Digital ‘Taking Time’ and forthcoming remixes of ‘Devilfish – Man Alive’ and ‘Adam Sheridans – After Dark’ are already generating heat having followed up from his March release of ‘Our Floor’ and ‘What is it’ on Vandit Digital. There’s furthermore in the bag too as Jon is currently working on some very exciting new material & remixes and later in the year releases a storming track on Sander van Doorns label, Doorn Records.
In Rundell’s Taking Time EP out Aug 1st on Vandit Digital, he creates two tracks that manage to find the perfect balance between deliciously fierce tension and shiver inducing breakdowns. And the best part is that all of this seems to be happening almost effortlessly! As the dirty basslines and devilish beats give way to a single sustained note the music fades to the sounds of summer. Classic stabbing chords and waves of white sound crash in sonic release, giving listeners a moment to breathe slow, and take it in before grinding back down to business! And Jon is wise to stick with the sound that serves him so well. A clever fusion of filthy, sparse basslines and wicked beats, Rundell’s productions are carefully crafted to inflict maximum dance-floor damage, leaving even the most experienced club-goer a little breathless and begging for more. Paul van Dyk loved ‘Taking Time’ so much he’s obviously signed it, but has also included it in his forthcoming Cream Ibiza compilation.

He’s Back! Danny Tenaglia returns with his first compilation in 6 years, reinforced by a brand new single and his first ever Ibiza residence at Space…
After a six-year hiatus from releasing compilations, Danny Tenaglia returns with the 2xCD compilation, ‘Futurism’.
Long before the Ableton revolution Tenaglia was renowned for his unique sets where samples from various records were frequently interwoven throughout, layered atop his trademark sound, a twisted (often marathon) voyage across the many genres of house and techno. “If you think of the word ‘techno’”, Danny humbly elaborates, “It’s just short for technology. What were Kraftwerk doing? What was Larry Levan doing up in the booth with reel-to-reel and reverb? They were being experimental.”
‘Futurism’ perfectly captures this pioneering, bespoke approach whilst – as the title suggests – drawing on the contemporary cream of the production world. Minimal tech grooves from the likes of Shinedoe, Luca Bacchetti and Davide Squillace sit alongside the undiscovered, disembodied vocals of DJ Mosoga’s ‘Tiir’ and the surrealist funk of the Wighnomy Brothers, whilst the magic Tenaglia signature can be found on the five (count ‘em) exclusive edits of Ultra Nate, Guillaume & The Couto Dumonts Silent Servant and Phase. Plus, as if this weren’t enough to whet the whistle of anticipation, there’s a myriad of additional FX and loops to discover, as Danny confirms, “All tracks on the compilation have been, in one way or another, changed from their original form by adding or subtracting elements in classic ‘DT style’.” And, if there were still any doubt about the authorship, don’t forget the two versions of Danny’s brand new single, ‘The Space Dance’, which fittingly close each mix.

The aim of the first International Music Summit was to establish itself as a global forum that will address the challenges faced in the electronic music world today. Those with even a passing interest in dance music will be aware that there is already an annual Winter Music Conference held in Miami. However, whilst this is still one of the main networking events for the industry, it has become more about the parties than anything else.
In contrast, with the strap line ‘Back To Business’ and Pete Tong at the helm, the IMS made it’s intentions clear from the outset with it’s invite-only policy and intimate panels and speeches. The conference was logically staged in the unofficial capital of the dance music world, Ibiza, which provided the conference with a wonderful array of locations in the sense of both business and pleasure. An impressive array of the world’s most senior and authoritative figures from the industry gathered to debate and discuss the future of the industry including input and performances from artists such as Pete Tong, Francois K, Layo & Bushwaka!, Radioslave, Tom Middleton and Mark Brown.
Kicking things off was a panel entitled ‘Synch or Swim?’ which looked into synch issues and was moderated by Kerri Mason of Billboard magazine. Bruno Roussel, who has edited music for massive US shows such as Six Feet Under and Medium, provided some interesting insights alongside Jason Bentley from radio station KCRW and Neil Barnes of former Leftfield fame. After a key-note speech from David Levy (Amy Winehouse, Bjork’s agent) in the early afternoon, Tom Middleton headed-up an hour long workshop in which he demonstrated the composition of a track that was to become the IMS anthem.
Fresh from hosting parties at London’s Ministry of Sound and announcing a new weekly night at the White’s Isle’s legendary Eden, the debut soundtrack from the globe trotting veteran’s spanking new brand Wonderland has landed. With heavyweights Groove Armada hosting Eden’s back room and a line up packed with the biggest names in house, breaks and techno, Pete Tong’s Wonderland is on track for an undoubtedly epic summer.
Across two CDs remaining ever faithful to its house roots, Wonderland’s debut album boasts a smattering of upfront cuts as Pete calls in favours only he can! The first instalment kicks into action with the slow building beats of Prydz’s ‘Europa’ followed seamlessly by a hard hit of deep house as Leftfield’s intense and unremitting ‘Not Forgotten’ wastes no time in driving the mix relentlessly forward. The dark and brooding grooves of Shonky Zero’s ‘Time Skylark’ provide a neat contrast to the electro house vibes of Skylark’s ‘Interlater’ and take us midway through Tong’s first instalment. Wink’s funkier ‘Stay Out all Night’ allows a short respite before Pete rocks us with a retouch of ‘Radio Slave’s ‘Grindhouse’ and the recent huge essential new tune ‘Sample Whore’ by Irish upstarts The Japanese Popstars before wrapping things up with Tong and Spoon’s hard hitting Gas Face.
The second hit of Wonderland bounces into being with Dr. Kucho!’s ‘Best Monday of my life’ which blends into a bopping Gold Ryan and Tapesh remix of Syke’n’ Sugarstarr’s epic ‘No Love Lost’ and it all goes a bit arms in the air! Ananda Project’s ‘Where the Music Takes You’ brings the mix into darker territory tearing through hard hitters like WTF’s ‘Chicken’ a deep and visceral dub of Joe T Vannelli’s ‘Harlem’ and of course Prydz’s ‘Pjanoo’.
His critically acclaimed 2007 debut artist album “As Long as the Moment Exists”, written in airport waiting lounges and 30,000 feet in the air, consisting of 15 stunning tracks ranging from air freshener for the ears electronica, through to techno to frown to, saw the name Chris Fortier written in Techno’s little black book forever.
In 2008, “As Long As The Moment Exists” gets the extreme make over treatment by some of Chris’ all time musical heroes alongside some of his favourite new artists. The list of artists involved in this stunning collection of remixes and musical visions reads like a roll call of underground music’s who’s who; past, present and future:
Bruno Pronsato, Someone Else, Pheek, Joey Beltram, Mark Henning, Ed Davenport, Joel Mull, Error Error and Patrick Zigon to name just a few.
“I am proud to re-invigorate my debut artist album with new, fresh interpretations by some of the coolest producers around. This project will consist of a series of EP releases culminating LP/CD release collection.” Chris Fortier
A vinyl devotee, Chris refuses to give in to the so called digital revolution and as a touring DJ is still more than happy to discuss excess baggage with airline staff. So partnering with the world’s leading underground dance distributor, Intergroove Germany, to ensure the best of these works find their way into the hands of the vinyl buying community first, seemed the right thing to do.
Digital evangelists and vinyl doomsayers, stay calm – each EP will be made available exclusively at dance music’s digital mecca, Beatport.com, a fortnight after each vinyl release, and will include two bonus digital only tracks that aren’t a couple of token digital-only mixes by a couple of nobodies that is so often the case today. Start thinking Ink & Needle, Joey Beltram and Mark Broom; then you’re on the right track.
The Intergalactic quest for crunk continues! Travelling across time and space in their pimped-out Space Whip, our intrepid heroes The Body Snatchers take a chance and head for The Dawgstar, home of the mysterious Wizard of Floss - creator of the most stunnaful Stunna Shades this side of Oakland.
Will his mighty Ice Palace reveal the true nature of bling? Will the 5-0’s Playa Hatin Brigade catch The Body Snatchers riding dirty and bam ‘em in jail? And at the end of it all, will The Flava finally be restored to Alpha Crunkturi? Only one pair of crunk lovin’ aliens have the answer…
Better known as respected UK producers 30Hz and Baobinga, The Body Snatchers return with the final instalment of their audio / visual trilogy, with ‘Call Me’ featuring the super hot vocal talents of the soon-to-be-massive Sporty-O (just signed to Lil Jon’s label pop pickers!) alongside top female songstress Yolanda (Bugz In The Attic), this single will be the final release before their debut artist album ‘Feeling Good, Looking Nice, Smelling Right’ (in shops June 16th) an album set to flip the script on UK Urban sounds by infusing them with a seriously heavyweight electronic sensibility!
With the video of their last single ‘Freaky Ho’ featuring highly on MTV Dance, ‘Call Me’ has already racked up somewhere in the region of 150,000 (!) plays on youtube….
