Kylie has defended her latest album, titled X, against critics who found the record too impersonal.
The Aussie singer released the album after recovering from breast cancer and didn’t want to remind herself of the experience by writing songs about it.
She tells Australia’s The Daily Telegraph: “The only bit of criticism was saying that it wasn’t that personal.
“Having been ill, I didn’t want to write about being ill, not a whole album. I wanted, for my own sake, to do what I do, which is songs like Wow, In My Arms, 2 Hearts.”
Had she gone the opposite direction Kylie is sure she’d still face criticism adding: “If I had done an album that was totally personal there would be comments the other way.”

The Optronica exhibition showcases a generation of innovative artists who explore the synergy between music and visuals, and who are also developing new techniques and new tools. From video scratching to audiovisual remixing, from generative art to interactive work, the programme of video installations show the diverse aesthetic trends in contemporary visual music and the current AV scene.
Many people feel and enjoy the naturally close relationship between image and sound, particularly music, whose aesthetic purity has inspired some of the most progressive art of our time. The desire to emulate musical forms in visual art led to the development of what came to be known as visual music. Although visual music was itself not a formalised movement it was, and is, an important undercurrent and motive force in contemporary art. The exhibition “Optronica” is not just modern visual music, it refects a wider genre which continues the visual music tradition, but has grown to include the wide range of styles and practices which audiovisual artists, animators, experimental film-makers and collaborative multi-media groups employ today.

Having rocked and rioted throughout all of this year’s major UK festivals- stopping in between to headline events for their South African fans after they were propelled not once but twice this summer into top 5 chart glory with the delicious WHY YOU and GIRLS IN HATS- The Loose Cannons return to the dancefloor, with a foxy, electronic cover of Janet Jackson’s classic- WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY…
Appropriate to the Cannons’ own musical mandate, Ms Jackson has all the golden hooks and the lyrics are deliciously delivered in Kaiser Saucy’s spine-tingling tones… Add Lord Fader’s sexy guitar riffs and filthy, twisted production into the mix and you have a sensual, foot-tapping masterclass in how to revive a classic song and make it massive for a new generation

Steve Lawler’s Viva Harlem Nights residency celebrates six glorious years at The End this month. A proper underground house party with a loyal and enthusiastic crowd who know what they want and know who can deliver it for them - a night for clubbers who want to find their space on the dancefloor at 10pm, and still be there at 6am when the lights go up.
One thing about Steve Lawler – he’s a DJ who always manages to evolve whilst never jumping on the bandwagon; capable of absorbing new sounds whilst still staying true to his roots. Fans who come to see him – whether new or old – never leave disappointed. Clubbers who remember him from when he first started making a name for himself in the nineties are still drawn in by his driving, energetic sound. Those who’ve never seen him before are often blown away at how he approaches his sets; with the energy of a DJ who has just hit the big time, but the technical mastery of someone who has been honing his craft for over two decades.

After a painfully lengthy hiatus, the legendary PUSH SUNDAY SESSIONS returns to our fair city to kick the New Year into touch with another marathon 12-hour shindig in association with RPM Magazine. PUSH had another huge 2007 – with sensational parties at KOKO featuring Armand van Helden, the sold-out NYE extravaganza with Junior Jack & Kid Crème, a debauched boat party, and of course the rammed-to-the-rafters arena at South West Four on Clapham Common. For the 2nd year running, they’ve secured the talents of a certain James Zabiela for one of their naughty little White House all-dayers – giving London’s more discerning party-people the chance to experience this world-famous talent in an intimate venue…for 3 hours…on a Sunday afternoon…an unmissable prospect

David Morales is a behemoth of the house scene who began performing before many of today clubbers were even born. Know as a record producer, remixer and one of the original superstar DJ’s, he has an enviable position as one of the world’s best known House pioneers (with fellow Def Mix partner Frankie Knuckles).
He is credited as the inventor of the modern dance remix after making Mariah Carey’s ‘Dreamlover’ one of the biggest crossover House records ever as well as remixing Ce Ce Penniston’s ‘Finally’ (1991). He was also the guy that brought us ‘Needin U’; arguably the biggest House track of the mid to late 90’s and has remixed what can only be called a who’s who of contemporary artists including Madonna, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, U2, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin & Diana Ross. He was rewarded for his talent, passion and innovation with a Grammy in 1997.
His sound is a mix of classic House mixed with energetic, contemporary and tribal beats. During the ’90s the dance mainstream became aligned to many of his stylistic trademarks - vocal breaks, up-tempo piano riffs and plenty of strings. He is certainly one of the DJ performers that everyone should see spin and has promised to give us a taste of his lasted album Defected presents Def Mix – a 20 year anniversary compilation.
Morales is joined in the main room by Copyright; the UK’s new House music prodigies and a DJ duo that are seriously on the up and are already international stars.

Despite being only January, the Glastonbury rumour mill is in full motion, and the smart money is on Jay-Z to be Michael Eavis’ surprise headliner.
Glastonbury guru Eavis recently revealed that he was booking a “black American headliner” leading many to speculate that it was Kanye West.
However, Eavis has thrown a spanner into the works by telling Xfm that the artist concerned is from New York, ruling out not only West, but Beyonce and Rihanna as well.

Hot on the heals of Josh Gabriel’s exceptional “Summit” single, Organized Nature turns up the pressure again.
In the summer of 2007, Gabriel & Dresden were asked to judge the finals of the Heineken Thirst Studio Global competition in Las Vegas, and the winners got to go into the studio with G&D. Whilst there the winners played another of their tracks to Josh & Dave who loved it, signed it, and then remixed it.
“We’re really excited about this release, from how it came about to the version we did. It’s just more proof that you never know where the next great tune is going to come from…and the reason why we do our label - to find new artists to work with. I think it’s a tip of the hat to the guys that we only used their sounds in our remix…. the mark of a great track!” - Dave Dresden
It was Monochrome (aka Livio & Roby feat. George G) from Bucharest, Romania, who won the competition which searched the globe for up and coming producer talent. As part of their prize they worked with Gabriel and Dresden on their track “Pearl” in the legendary Palm Studios in Las Vegas, and it was there that a blossoming creative friendship began.

The second Freak n’Chic release of 2008 brings the premier release from long-time Fn’C DJ collaborator Dyed Soundorom.
Dyed Soundorom is one of the most exciting young talents to come from the late-90s Paris club scene. 2008 is set to be the year when he goes from a cult underground player to a fully fledged talent on the European dance scene.
At 26, Dyed has been immersed in clubland since the age of 18, when his fascination with Michael Jackson’s Thriller and his older brother’s mixtapes pulled him headfirst into the world of electronic music. He was a promoter first, making an immediate splash through running the infamous React parties at Les Bains Douches.. Becoming a DJ was a natural extension through his love for the music he heard at React and also at parties like Kwality at Batofar (Dan Ghenacia’s residency) in Paris. It was there he met Dan Ghenacia, Shonky and :Terry: - aspiring, inspirational artists with whom Dyed felt an immediate connection. Their free-spirited ethos and passion for deep electronic music coincided with his attitudes and it was the beginning of enduring friendships.

Eddy Temple-Morris and Tom Bellamy are Losers. They make electronic music that rocks and describe their sound as “a twin headed beast of Liam Howlett and Soulwax taking Teenage Badgirl Up the arse at SebastiAn’s house, while Kissy Sellout dances (while simultaneously on a mobile phone conference call with Justice and Boyz Noize’).” Nice!
Here we have the follow up to their amazingly well received bootleg of Rage Against The Machine. A reworking of this ultimate classic, hands in the air, party stomper ‘You Got the Love,’ a seminal track given yet another re-rub, but to a devastating effect. ‘U got the Boot!’ is a slammin, high energy, peak time, electronic twisted snare assault on an anthem that needs no more introduction.
