The Club World Awards, the only awards program to honor the total nightclub, kicks off the 2008 season today, with a new online submission system and additional categories. Potential nominees in all 25 categories are invited to log onto www.clubworldawards.com and complete the provided forms to guarantee consideration for the 2008 nominee pool. Nominees will be announced and featured in the January issue of Club Systems International. Nominations close on Thursday, November 1, 2007.
âWe took a cue from other awards programs, from the Clios to the Grammys, and started to build a comprehensive online submission system,â says Kerri Mason, editor of Club Systems International and director of the Club World Awards. âThe goal is transparency, and increased ease and independence for all potential nominees.â
The Club World Awards are also adding six categories to the preexisting 19, for a total of 25. They are: âBest Bottle Service,â âBest Renovation,â âBest One-Off,â âBest DJ Set,â âBest Club Banger,â and âBest Club Anthem.â Details on each are below. Plus, two old categories â âBest Partyâ and âBest Resident DJâ â are being revised. âSince our inception, weâve believed in honoring parties and DJs that were at the same club, week after week,â says Mason. âBut times have changed, and thatâs no longer a lucrative format for most clubs.â Due to popular demand, nominations in these categories will now be accepted for weekly, biweekly, and monthly parties.

With five MASSIVE remixes for all the big rooms / fields / marquees and early hours after parties, âSunglasses At Nightâ is an anthem waiting to blow up once again. The Moog Mix is a proper piece of jacked up electro-house, whilst the M1 âThe Club Mixâ keeps it electro based but adds layers of guitar for an Ibiza ârocktronicâ moment. NâSolution take it down a dark and minimal route but keeps it driving, whereas the âThe Chicks On House remixâ is an unashamed handâs in the air house mix accompanied by the Club Mix which goes into a funky bassline territory.

âThis compilation is a depiction of the DJ and producer in me as well as a reflection of the impact that Yoshitoshi has made on the Dance scene, Montreal and myself over the years. Soulwax and 2manydjs return with a double CD compendium of their genre defining and dancefloor destroying reworkings of other peoples songs on Parlophone on 22/10/07. CD1 features Soulwax remixes in full, while CD2 is brand new 2manydjs mix. Here you will find (and this is also the full title of the album)âŠ
Most of the remixes weâve made for other people over the years except for the one for Einsturzende Neubauten because we lost it and a few we didnât think sounded good enough or just didnât fit in length-wise, but including some that are hard to find because either people forgot about them or simply because they havenât been released yet, a few we really love, one we think is just ok, some we did for free, some we did for money, some for ourselves without permission and some for friends as swaps but never on time and always at our studio in Ghent.

Steve Lawler returns to the compilations arena with âViva Londonâ, a 2 x CD, musical insight to his monthly residency at The End, a night heâs justifiably proud of, âVIVA Harlem Nights has been running for nearly 6 years at The End in London and it was time lay down a permanent celebration of the night.â
And what a celebration! Steveâs London is a twisted hedonistic world that oozes dark funk, sexy sleaze and sinister fun through an expert blend of the worldâs best producers. âThereâs some very exciting music out there,â he elaborates, âThe hardest call was what I should leave off. I decided to put a mix together of tracks that I have been heavily supporting this year. At the night itself I play for 5 hours so re-creating the club atmosphere within the 2CDs â which is only a 2 œ-hour timeframe â was really tough, but you get the picture of how the night starts musically, what the vibe is and how it ends.â
