Fresh from the massive success of their first two singles, Booty Luv finally unleash their highly anticipated debut album “Boogie 2Nite” on September 17th.
Booty Luv are Nadia Shepherd and Cherise Roberts, former front women of chart-topping hip-pop act Big Brovaz. Their debut single “Boogie 2Nite” peaked at No.2 in the UK charts and stayed in the Top 10 for an incredible eight weeks, just shy of 200,000 copies (silver). The track was the most played record on Radio 1 two weeks in a row and eventually reached No.4 in the radio airplay chart. The follow up, “Shine” was also a monster radio and TV smash and also bagged them another top ten hit. If that wasn’t impressive enough the videos for both have racked up over 1.7million views on youtube.
September 10th sees the release of Booty Luv’s third single, a reworking of the Lucy Pearl classic “Don’t Mess With My Man”, with the girls giving the track their own touch of luv and a whole lot of Booty! Since its release in 2000 the track has been a perennial favourite across the UK’s clubs and Booty Luv’s version brings the track bang up to date and ready to win over a whole new legion of fans.

Like most things in life Bugged Out wasn’t that carefully conceived. It was hastily thrown together after Paul and I were invited by Sankeys Soap in Manchester to quickly take over a failing Friday night. Sankeys’ then manager, Andrew Spiro, had been impressed with some of the parties we had thrown in 1994 for our magazine Jockey Slut. The first was called Drinking Club that was set in a pub and featured a couple of mates who called themselves the Dust Brothers (later to be the Chemical Brothers) playing some records. A run of six parties called Discopogo followed over that summer and the weekly Bugged Out was launched at Sankeys on 24th November with LFO playing live.

In these democratic times, when music is available to download at the touch of a button and every other man and his dog has a pair of Pioneer CDJ 1000’s, the days of the superstar DJ are long gone. There are a few names in the business, however, that can still inspire in even the most cynical and jaded clubber, a slight feeling of awe and a twinge of butterflies in the stomach. It’s fair to say that Jeff Mills is one of these. Heck – the man has even been immortalised in cockney rhyming slang for gawd’s sake!
From his role in setting up the near-mythical Underground Resistance with ‘Mad’ Mike Banks and Robert ‘Nosie’ Hood, to his recording contract with the seminal Tresor label, his residency at New York’s Limelight club, and more recently fusing techno and classical by recreating some of his most famous tracks with the Montpellier Philharmonic Orchestra, he has consistently broken boundaries and set the standards for techno.

The new label will consist of two separate sub labels, 3 Beat Blue and 3 Beat Red. 3 Beat Blue will focus on cooler, funky house and electro releases, while 3 Beat Red will release the tougher ‘commercial / scouse house’ sound.

The legendary sound system at the world’s most famous nightclub has been totally upgraded…
The main room at London’s Ministry of Sound was always designed to provide the ultimate audio experience, and for the last 15 years its sound system has remained among the clearest, loudest and most bone-shaking in the business.
But having a reputation for the best system in the world is no reason to sit back and relax. With plenty of competition attempting to take the crown, it was decided that the famous MoS main room needed a complete upgrade to bring in the very latest technology, and keep it firmly ahead of the game.
Early versions of the custom made new speakers were secretly demonstrated to Dave Bradshaw, Head of Production at Ministry of Sound back in December.
