It’s often said that writing an artist album in dance music is one of the hardest things to do. As a producer of club music do you make ten bangers or do you drift into the ‘artist’ realm and make album tracks that bear little relationship to what you’re initially known for?

If you haven’t heard the news already, Chris Fortier is releasing debut solo album “As Long as the Moment Exists”, which he’s put together over the past year, via Australia’s finest independent label EQ Recordings, and because of his love of vinyl as a DJ has chosen eight of the diverse album tracks to release on two 12” EPs for DJs and vinyl lovers alike. EP1 will be followed by EP2 at the end of the summer. The music comes straight from the heart and sees Chris spread his wings to become a true artist beyond his fame as a DJ.

For the first time in its three-year history Kissdafunk Leeds is hosting a July edition. Up until now KDF has always taken a summer sabbatical so fans can recharge their batteries; but due to unprecedented demand, this year the team is running an extra party at Mission on Friday 27th July.
Taking centre stage alongside The Trophy Twins (Radio One) & Rob Tissera are KDF deck-wizard, Sonny Wharton and East London dance floor rebels, The Hoxton Whores. Having mixed for everyone from Faithless to Moloko the boys are also no strangers to the Kissdafunk dance-floor.

I love ibiza – its the most magical country ive been to. When I was younger it was all about the fun and finding parties and not going to sleep – its the opposite now, I love the restaurants and the quiet places and discovering new beaches and hang outs.
What have you got planned for your set at pure pacha?
The usual mad mash up of everything from funk and hip hop to drum and bass and electro..i like challenging the cliché that ibizas only bout house music.

What does Ibiza mean to you? Can you tell us about your first experience of Ibiza? Was it very different to your visits now?
Summer, Parties, Big DJ’S, summer hit records.
My first Ibiza experience came after an interview on a French magazine that was talking about the Friday night at Pacha, Ibiza and all the big DJ’s that was playing that night.
It was back in 1995 and at that time I was starting my DJ career so I wasn’t earning much money. But enough to book a flight ticket, I had the equivalent of 70 euros for 3 days. And I don’t know how I manage it but I got into Pacha without paying and I saw Erick Morillo playing that night. From then I made it my priority to play at Pacha - because I loved the crowd and the ambience.
So with that in mind my visits are very different now. But what always remains the same with Ibiza is that every night you can catch a big DJ or a good night.

Lisa Lashes is the biggest female DJ in the world – no contest.
