If you’re fed up of looking out your window onto grey dreary weather and desperately need some sunshine in your life then you are in luck. Chris Lake’s new track “Carry me Away” does just that… described as being “reminiscent of a hot summer’s day dancing on the beach” this track is tipped for HUGE success.
Featuring the sultry voice of Emma Hewitt, “Carry me Away” is set for release in June on Chris’s own Rising Music Label. An uplifting piece of blissed out electronica, you cannot help but fall in love with Emma’s beautiful vocals over a hooky piano riff that is Chris’s trademark.
Complimenting the original, there is the Sébastien Leger remix which tears apart Chris’s mix to give you a deep, dark, electro-twisted journey; still keeping the vocal with a soaring orchestral break that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.

Having been recently been featured as “one to watch” in both DJ Magazine & IDJ, and having the Trophy Twins feature him on their excellent BBC Radio 1 show, DJ HAL the multi-talented producer from Nottingham, is back once again with arguably his most exciting production to date. The original mix of “Close My Eyes” is a radio friendly breakbeat orientated indie-edged song, complete with vocals from DJ HAL himself, that is utterly compelling. It’s been described as being akin to pogo-ing in a mosh pit with John Lydon, and that’s not far wide of the mark! To further fuel the fire and explore different dancefloor angles, DJ HAL and Advanced Records have enlisted the remix talents of a diverse selection of both new and established talent from around the globe.
San Francisco legend, Gavin Hardkiss (aka Hawke), can always be relied on to create something wondorous and original when he sets foot in the studio, and here he recreates the original song in his own distinctly original house style. Gavin is indelibly linked with a mystical form of electronic dance music that globally represents San Francisco. As one-third of the famed Hardkiss trio (with “brothers” Scott and Robbie Hardkiss), Gavin has helped to create and encourage a spirited, psychedelic approach to music and life with genre-defying songs and DJ sets. The Hardkiss label released various singles and one stunning compilation, “Delusions of Grandeur”, in the mid-90s, which served as a veritable blueprint for so many future artists, and one that continues to be referenced and admired throughout the world.

Less is more right? Wrong. In the case of Pepe Deluxé at least, more is most certainly more. ‘The Mischief Of Cloud 6’, is the second single from the forthcoming album ‘Spare Time Machine’ and Pepe Deluxe have added a bit more of everything into the pot and all for the better. More sweet hip-hop beats, more psychedelic guitar crescendos, more of the same offbeat lyrics, retro vocals and more influences from around the world than you can shake a pocket atlas at. In contrast it also has less too. Less samples. Or to be exact, none.
Pepe Deluxé are two: James Spectrum (AKA Jari Salo) and JA-Jazz (AKA Tomi Paajaanen). These Finnish scholars of sonics formed in the Mid- ’90s. Probably best known for their outstanding use of samples as heard on their most familiar song ‘Woman In Blue’, which was used on the Levi’s Jeans ‘Twisted’ commercial and taken from their debut album ‘Supersound’ in ’98.’Supersound’ was so notoriously sample-laden that three versions were eventually created, each ‘cleaner’ than the last as it grew in stature and was licensed to Sony. Now ‘Spare Time Machine’ has arrived their third album, taking things up yet another level. It has all the funk of their best material but doused in the spirit of uproarious ‘60s psychedelia and ‘70s prog-rock. What’s more it’s entirely sample-free.

In November 2006, Ed Banger Records released their very first album, it was called ‘Lucky Boy’ and it was by a certain young chap named DJ Mehdi. Since then things have changed a little bit…
DJ Mehdi, alongside his label buddies Justice, Sebastian and Busy P, haven’t just shaken up clubland, they’ve grabbed it by the balls lifted it way above their head and slammed it to the ground! The French are back and they’re bigger and noiser than ever, but with all the hype and screaming young fans, Mehdi’s music injects a healthy dose of soul, backbone and disco fever, and boy does it sound good!
The original version of ‘Lucky Boy’ didn’t just get journalists hot under the collar; his massive tunes ‘I Am Somebody’, ‘Signature’, ‘Wee Bounce’ and ‘Lucky Boy’ have been the soundtrack to the hottest parties of the last 6 months. ‘The Kids’, as they say, love him and there was no better example of this when Ed Banger threw their 4th Birthday party in Paris in March, when 1000 fortunate party animals crammed into the ‘Espace Pierre Cardin’ and rocked out till the very early morning. Where else do you see people po-going like Punks, headbanging like Rockers, breaking like B-Boys and screaming like fans at an 80’s Michael Jackson gig?

In the two years since DJ Marky & Friends launched, it has become a cornerstone of The End’s roster of events and is always a crucial date in the drum & bass calendar. This conceptual night based around Marky’s unique ability to play extended and all night drum & bass sets, has put him in a class of his own amongst the drum & bass fraternity. Marky’s hand-selected innovative line ups consisting of friends and associates have been key to the night’s success, and this May sees another piece of genius as two of the scene’s most important protagonists go head to head.
The one in a million Brazilian, and the liquid funk master Fabio will be taking control of both the main room and the lounge all night long in an enthralling encounter that sees each spinner play two totally unique sets. While one plays a four hour drum & bass set on The End’s devastating main room sound system, the other spins a four hour alternative selection in the lounge, they then trade places and the roles are reversed.

After a long list of accomplishments that has seen him do nearly everything possible in dance music, Chris conquors the final personal goal of an artist album of his own material. This comes straight from the heart and sees the man spread his wings to become a true artist beyond his fame as a DJ.
The Album took all of 2006 to complete, and all tracks have been tweaked and sublimely edited to ensure the best possible sonic journey into deep sounds. ”As Long as the Moment Exists” explores underground sounds and electronic influences, with an experimental twist. LCD Soundsystem return with a new single ‘All My Friends’ on May 28th, taken from the massively acclaimed album ‘Sound Of Silver’ released earlier this year. With it’s frenetic refrain and rhythmic precision ‘All My Friends’ has quickly become both an album standout and live favourite, as the recent sell-out European tour showed to great effect.
‘All My Friends’ is backed by a spectacular array of new material and exclusive mixes in the form of covers of ‘A.M.F’s’ by both Franz Ferdinand (produced by Erol Alkan) and the legendary John Cale who recorded his amazing version in LA in early April, a radical dancefloor re-working courtesy of seminal NY based ex-pat Harvey, a new LCD cover of Joy Division’s ‘No Love Lost’ and ‘Freak Out’, a brand new clubtrack.
