For years Azuli Records has been picking out future hits well before they hit the big time. Previous albums have included tracks that have become hits six or nine months after being showcased on the label’s compilations; take Bodyrox ‘Yeah Yeah’ or Roger Sanchez ‘Lost’, just two tracks included on Azuli albums in early 2006 that are now monster records.

As innovative as ever, the Club Azuli album series is available in both mixed and unmixed formats – the mixed for the clubber and the unmixed for the CD DJ. Azuli were one of the first labels to offer their compilations in this format and now their competitors are following suit.

Buzzin Fly @ The End with Tom Middleton and Ben Watt

 Img Events 207 T2
Where do all the flies go in winter? Do they hibernate? I don’t know about all the bluebottles and midges, but Ben Watt’s Buzzin Fly wraps up in a warm winter scarf and carries on the party. Flies don’t do detoxes anyway – and neither should you, as the Buzzin Fly ressies Ben Watt, Justin Martin and Chris Woodward are joined by a Jedi Knight in shining armour – Tom Middleton – and XFM’s Nick Luscombe.

There are many reasons to love Tom Middleton. Firstly he is Jedi Knight, so pretty adept, I would imagine, with a light sabre. Secondly he is an amateur cordon bleu chef – so good for dinner parties. Thirdly, he is responsible for introducing thousands of people to an electro version of Nirvana’s ‘Smells like Teen Spirit’ and a cover of ‘Le Freak’ by the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain, through his Cosmosonica: Crazy Covers Vol 1 CD. Oh yeah, and he makes completely amazing records and is a wizard behind the decks too.

Together 1st Birthday

Picture 1

Cast your minds back to those blissful childhood days when jelly & ice cream was the greatest thing since… well, jelly & ice cream and all the kids at school would have competitions to see whose parents could give out the best goody bags at your Birthday bash. Well folks, those happy days are back as Together presents The First Birthday (Well, Sort of…) on Saturday 27th January and the Greatest Birthday Party in the World… EVER!!

Together has long been lording it at Turnmills (5 New Year’s Eve on the bounce), but it wasn’t until January 2006 that our genre-busting club night went monthly. Fast forward 12 months and you’re looking at the mother of all Birthday bashes, with more trimmings than Gordon Ramsey’s Christmas dinner! F**k the stuffing, cos we’ve got… Free Together Goody Bags, (including party hats, Together keyrings, stickers, vouchers and anything else we can blag, oh yeah and those things that you blow out too!), plus Free Haircuts, Free Face Painting, A Giant Birthday Cake to jump out of, Laughing gas (naturally) and some proper old skool party games to play like Pass the Parcel, Musical Statues, Musical Chairs and Pin the Tail on the DJ. What more do you want? Jelly & ice cream? Cool, cos we’ve got that too!! Seeing as every month WE decide what the Fancy Dress Theme will be (Dress up as your Mum, make your own homemade Hat, get your best Sports threads on etc etc), this month seeing as it’s the Birthday, we thought we’d let YOU lot decide on what you wanted to wear instead. Therefore it can absolutely anything. Think of the most weirdest and wonderful ideas and then come as that. As ever, top prizes will be awarded to the ‘Best Dressed.’ So that’s the silly stuff covered then… onto the music.
