Man killed in nightclub shooting

A witness to a murder in a nightclub early on Saturday says the victim was shot four times.

Police have named him as 18-year-old Sharif Zaiden from Ladbroke Grove.

Terry Marnoch, DJ at the Egg Cup club in York Way, N7, told BBC News the shooting happened during a private birthday party on the dance floor.

Police are looking for a light-skinned black male, about 6ft tall and in his 20s. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Mr Marnoch said the killer pulled a gun from the back of his trousers and fired four shots at the victim before running off down a fire escape.

“People were running in all directions,” he said. “It was chaotic.”

A post-mortem examination on Mr Zaiden’s body is expected to take place later on Saturday.

A police incident room has been set up and police are asking witnesses to contact them. They say the club, and the road outside, were very busy at the time, around 0300 BST on Saturday.
