Snakes on a Plane - Remixed broadcast television trailers

200607312057

Seems that no one can escape the internet phenomenon that is the forthcoming Samuel L. Jackson action movie Snakes on a Plane. Already a film with a large, albeit strange, cult following even before release, Addictive TV were asked to create remixed trailers for US television in their trademark audiovisual sampling and cut-up style. With rushes of the film a closely guarded secret, and web masters all over the planet itching for leaks, the Addictive TV guys were locked up in their studio to create the two 30 second spots for network use.

Starts on US television from next week and they’ll also be online soon. Be prepared for a scratched Sam Jackson stuttering his way into a drum ‘n’ bass track made up of rhythmic gun shots and an axe-wielding stewardess beheading seriously psychotic serpents!

My Digital Enemy

200607312051

My Digital Enemy up the ante on their second release, abandoning the hands-in-the-air vocals of their first release and following several weekends? worth of ?field research? in some of the more seedier, scarier after hours parties that London has to offer, they return with the grindy, gritty triple-headed beast that is the ?Sordid You EP?

Featuring three tracks of bottom-heavy, tech-inspired dirt My Digital Enemy AKA Brighton-based trio Harry Diamond, Segei Hall and Keiron Mc Ternan deliver this absolute belting single, further developing the MDE sound for 2006.

The lead track ?Sordid You? is a deep throbbing 3am workout featuring a dreamy lead line and a warping bass that will get you grooving into the early hours. Next up ?Electro Joker? is Robbie Rivera?s ?Funk-a-Tron? meets Tocadisco in an after hours party somewhere in Shoreditch whilst the final track ?Where The Fuck Is Elvis?? ups the pace slightly featuring tech-ed out percussion and a growling bassline that is simply not going to take ?no? for an answer.

Proving that they?re more than capable of delivering the goods, we?ll just leave you to make your own mind up, but will say? watch out for this tearing clubs up in coming weeks!

Sex Machine

Sex Machine is the meeting of minds of top songwriter Danny Kirsch, hot new producer Mat Bradshaw with super-vocalist Shena and Friday Night is set to be the funky house anthem of the summer!

Friday Night is the most essential tune to kick-start your weekend in style with it?s sing-a-long, feel good lyrics. Already championed by Pete Tong on Radio 1 for 5 weeks, Friday Night is teed up to cross over and hit the charts.

Danny Kirsch is a hugely successful songwriter / producer and has written hits for Jurgen Vries, Bez, Judge Jules and Rozalla to name just a few! Mat Bradshaw is on a roll with his productions and remixes and he?s recently remixed The Original?s club classic I Luv U Baby. Mat is rooted firmly in the commercial dance scene and has a reputation in the up for it northern funky circuit.

Providing the vocals is the one and only Shena, having worked with people as diverse as Mariah Carey to Girls Aloud, Shena?s vocals know no limits! Shena scored a top 10 hit on Michael Gray?s - The Weekend and her Electro Sexual release is currently doing the rounds in clubland.

Friday Night would not be complete without a full remix package and we mean full!

Ian Carey provides kickin? remixes with killer string hooks, irresistibly funky basslines and a lush electric piano riff plus there?s a dub for the late night crew.

Germany?s Plastic Funk, touch on the funky-electro vibe with a remix that is already doing serious damage this summer complete with a phat sound and clever filtering.

New kids on the block and ?youngstars? in waiting, Kingpinz, round it all off with a string driven remix that builds and builds.

Love Don?t Let Me Go - David Guetta vs The Egg

?Love Don?t Let Me Go (Walking Away)? is the new club smash delivered by David Guetta on 14th August through Gusto Recordings.

Starting life in the underground as a naughty bootleg at the end of ?05, David?s ?Love Don?t Let Me Go? disappeared on a smutty three day bender with Tocadisco?s remix of The Egg?s classic, ?Walking Away? and somehow re-emerged as a body-popping b-line laced with cheeky electro reverb and staccato synths. Its head hurt too. Hangover aside, ?Love Don?t Let Me Go (Walking Away)? is set to become the club smash of summer ?06.

After that L?Oreal ad, after being voted ?Best DJ? at 2005?s ?House Music Awards?, and after yet another Miami party that saw industry insiders, club kids and the rich and famous clamber on stage, David Guetta is back. The Tocadisco mix is currently spearheading the latest Citroen C4 TV campaign featuring that Robot again. Radio 1?s Pete Tong and Jo Whiley have both supported David?s track, with Tong on board since its fledgling bootleg status back in March. The original version of The Egg?s ?Walking Away? has enjoyed recent plays from Zane Lowe and Steve Lamacq and is available on their ?Forwards? album through Squarepeg Records.

Following F*** Me I?m Famous? phenomenal debut in the UK last October, the parties have taken NY, Miami WMC, Paris and, The Cannes Film Festival by the balls. David played Space?s opening party in Ibiza this year and there is the second ever FMIF London date on 22 June at Caf? de Paris.

Three stand-alone FMIF parties are lined up at Pacha, Ibiza starting 13 July and don?t forget the third in the ?F*** Me I?m Famous? album series, set for release on 3 July, and entitled ?FMIF International.?

Let?s not forget this is a mash up and The Egg of course are a highly respected electronic dance act who will be coming back this summer with an eagerly awaited new single. They are playing a bunch of UK festivals including the Big Chill, The Glade, TDK Cross Central, Bestival and Foundation, before releasing brand new single ?Nothing? in September.

?Love Don?t Let Me Go (Walking Away)? by David Guetta vs The Egg is released 14th August through Gusto Recordings.

10 Sui & La Resistance feat Ragga Twins ‘Bring forth Ya Booty’

The breaks scene has always had a ?blokesy? edge to it, it?s got to be said so it?s so refreshing when someone like 10 Sui comes along adding her feminine charm and electronic soul to this testosterone charged world with the refreshingly funky and (quite literally) cheeky ?Bring Forth Ya Booty?

For over a decade Tracie ?10 Sui? Storey has plied her trade spinning an intelligent mix of electro, house and party tunes alongside producing, writing for some of the UK?s leading dance press as well as broadcasting on various web radio stations ensuring that over the years, she has become known as one of the world?s leading decks women in her scene.

Here she has joined forces with producer extraordinaire and up and coming DJ Mikey G AKA La Resistance, which has led to this cellulite burner of a tune.

Mikey cut his teeth working in Joey Negro?s Old St Studio with some of house music?s household names. Exploding onto the breaks scene in late 2005 he quickly picked up airplay and DJ support from the breaks A List for his output as ?Artcrime?

In his short period as a breaks producer Mikey has seen his tracks appear on DJ Mag cover mounts as well as on Florida breaks-legend DJ Icey?s acclaimed ?Y4K? mix album. With his DJ career as ?Urban Resistance? blossoming he has dates in the diary with The Plumps, Stanton?s, Tayo and Meat Katie.

Bringing in sound system legends The Ragga Twins on vocal duties has been an inspired choice. Having been MC?ing since the early 90?s the boys Flinty and Dman have rocked raves and festivals ever since building themselves up to legendary status. The Ragga?s add the x-factor to this tune and turn 10 Sui and Mikey G?s rolling breaks track into one fat sing-a-long anthem ?

Junkie XL - Today

With ?Today? Tom Holkenberg AKA Junkie XL, releases his fourth full-length artist album to carry the Junkie XL name. Reverting to the more guitar-based sound of his first two albums ?Today? is lyrically more personal, musically more cohesive and focused than any other Junkie XL disc. ?My previous albums would go all over the place, from reggae to funk to techno, whatever,? Holkenborg says. ?The last three albums were big, conceptual albums, with a whole theory behind them, and for this album, I just went back to basics. I wanted to make 10 great tracks. This album is more of just one thing; it?s really a vibe that I?m in right now. So that?s why it?s called ?Today?, It?s pretty much where I stand right now in my musical development.?

With the single of the same name ready to drop with heavyweight remixes from UNKLE vs Mode Showdown, Fuzzy Hair and King Roc, this is a very big release indeed!

* JUNKIE XL masterminded one of the most successful remixes in history: the 2002 resurrection of Elvis Presley?s ?A Little Less Conversation,? a No. 1 smash in 24 countries.
* Other artists remixed by JUNKIE XL include Scissor Sisters, Depeche Mode, Coldplay, Britney Spears, UNKLE, Rammstein and Culture Club.
* JUNKIE XL has written scores for movies like The Matrix, Team America and Kingdom of Heaven, as well as music for video games Destroy All Humans and Xbox?s Forza Motorsport and commercials Nike and ADIDAS.
* JUNKIE XL produced works for such metal heroes as Sepultura, Soulfly and Fear Factory as well as notable dance music artists Sasha & Ti?sto.
* ?Today? is the follow-up to his third album, 2004?s Radio JXL - A Broadcast from the Computer Hell Cabin, a virtual, dream-like pirate radio station with the voices of Solomon Burke, Peter Tosh, Chuck D, Dave Gahan, Robert Smith and others strewn across clever, beat-laden JUNKIE XL creations.
* Musically ?Today? fits nicely with 80?s bands such as New Order, Depeche Mode and U2.
* The video for first single ?Today? is directed by Glenn Cole (also co-founder and creative director of advertising agency 72andSunny). The video features Tom Holkenborg (JUNKIE XL) has a barber who creates outrageous haircuts for anyone who visits his barbershop. Cole and Junkie XL first collaborated on a Nike World Cup commercial in 2002, which resulted in the JXL remix of Elvis’ “A Little Less Conversation”.
* JUNKIE XL relocated from Amsterdam to the Venice Beach area of Los Angeles to concentrate on film, video game and commercial projects

The Crystal Method Create first of its kind album for Nike

200607251931

Nike and THE CRYSTAL METHOD today announce the release of “Drive: Nike + Original Run” via the new Sport Music section of Apple iTunes Music
Store. “Drive” is an original soundtrack composed by THE CRYSTAL METHOD to guide athletes through a 45-minute run, from warm-up through cool
down.

The new album from THE CRYSTAL METHOD will join downloadable coaching mixes from champion marathoner Alberto Salazar on the Sport Music
section of iTunes Music Store. Sport Music has been designed as a virtual training partner and destination for athletes. More coaching mixes will be added to the Sport Music section of iTunes Music Store over time.

The unique set-up of the track “Drive” is that it follows the progression of a 45-minute work out. The tempo of the track begins at a slower pace to take the athlete through a gradual warm up, increases pace over the course of the run, and then gradually decreases tempo as part of the cool down.

Crystal Method’s Scott Kirkland said: “It’s a challenge because usually when we create music, we’re focused on what we like and what our fans will like. We’re not accustomed to thinking about a particular activity that has to go with the music. For this project, we thought about the movement and the energy that goes into exercising and running and the sort of goal-oriented activity that goes along with working out.

When I’ve worked out…it’s always about goals: ‘I’m doing the uphill now, I’ve got four minutes until I get to the goal.’ So we created songs that have a lot of dynamic motion to them, songs that go places.”.

Consumers can buy the unconventional 45-minute sport soundtrack on Apple iTunes Music Store for $9.99.

“When we asked runners for examples of artists who create music that carries them through their run, TCM was consistently mentioned,” said
Stefan Olander, Nike’s Global Director of Digital Media and Content.

“We were interested in working with someone who could create a continuous track with great rhythm that gives runners energy and
motivation over, and “Drive” really delivered.”

The first product developed though this partnership is the Nike+iPod Sport Kit, a wireless system that allows Nike+ footwear to talk with your iPod nano to connect you to the ultimate personal running and workout experience.

With the Nike+ Air Zoom Moire connected to the iPod nano through the Nike+iPod Sport Kit, information on time, distance, calories burned and
pace is stored on iPod and displayed on the screen; real-time audible feedback also is provided through headphones.
The kit includes an in-shoe sensor and a receiver that attaches to the iPod nano.

After a workout, simply connect the iPod nano to a Mac or PC and with the help of iTunes automatically sync and store workout data in a
customized workout log on nikeplus.com. Nikeplus.com helps maximize the experience. You can log workout data, view and evaluate personal
training goals, and review distance, time, pace and calories burned all through a colorful, dynamic and easy to use interface.

The Beatles receive an eclectic workout on “Fab 4 Ever”

Emmanuel Santarromana’s second studio album “Fab 4 Ever” is far more than a cover album. Created with sweet melodies, robot-pop, Irish folk and southern ecstasy, “Fab 4 Ever” is a great way to revisit those classic songs from John, Paul, George and Ringo.

“Fab 4 Ever” features collaborations with many new musicians and singers: the Australian female singer D?ah (?Paperback Writer?), female choreographer Blanca Li (?Sun King?) ? creator of the famous Daft Punk Around The World video choreography ?, French actress and composer Marie Payen (?Blackbird?, ?Day Tripper?), Zita Lotis-Faure (?Come Together?), Newton (?Tomorrow Never Knows?) and Constance Verluca (?Across The Universe?).

Before earning a reputation as a DJ and through his electronic mixes, Santarromana?s influences ranged from The Stray Cats, The Stranglers and Dr. Feelgood (his mother dated the bass player of this famous English band, giving Sanatarromana a chance to travel with the group in his youth). With a classical background, having spent a number of years with the Rouen Opera Choir, and also performing as a percussionist, he produced his first studio album entitled “Metropolitain” (2002).

Santarromana re-recorded his original version of We Can Work It Out (his original mix appeared on his compilation Barbara Bui: Whisper and Soul), alongside Strawberry Fields Forever, Back In the USSR and You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away, which are reminiscent of Nick Drake, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon or even Killing Joke’s Jaz Coleman.

Loa - No Strings (Lets Have Sex) - Video

Monday August 28th sees the release of ?No Strings (Let?s Have Sex)? - set to send temperatures soaring and dancefloors sizzling! Co-written and performed by the amazing newcomer Lola.

Born and raised by hippie parents in Paris? gritty and multicultural Belleville district via layovers in Brazil, Los Angeles and now Brooklyn, Lola?s music leaps and bounds across categories from soul-fuelled rock and smoky R&B, to jazz-soaked pop and the occasional Hip Hop flava. Reared on a diverse musical tapestry and counting Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Michael Jackson among her influences, Lola felt the fever from the age of two. ?One of my first memories was hearing Off the Wall for the first time,? she says. ?I remember almost going into convulsions ? it was my first musical slap in the face.?

With her debut single ?No Strings (Let?s Have Sex)? sounding more like a re-discovered Prince track title ( another of her heroes ) rather than an acceptable choice for a young female singer, Lola has raised more than a few eyebrows around the world. ?It?s so liberating to acknowledge that these feelings happen,? she says of the song?s upfront attitude toward sex ? ?It?s not a call to behave promiscuously; it?s just a particular feeling I?m sure everybody has at some point. I ended up feeling like I was doing a public service and providing catharsis to everybody, especially women.? she laughs.

Originally a steamy slow R&B jam, ?No Strings?, co-written by Lola and Toby Gad ( Enrique Iglesias ) was whipped up into a piece of pure pop-house heaven by U.S DJ/remixer Josh Harris, who has also worked with the likes of Britney, Cher and Kelly Clarkson. The track went on to spend an amazing 5 months on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play Chart, peaking at No.2.

As well as turning Lola into clubland?s most notorious diva in waiting, ?No Strings? also caught the attention of Pete Waterman, legendary purveyor of the very finest in dance and pop music. He heard it being played on his internet radio station www.pwlradio.com and flipped over it. In fact he loved it so much that he signed the track to his Ebul label imprint via SonyBMG UK. “Every now and again, you’ll hear a record on the radio that makes you want to turn the volume right up to see what it is.? he says ? ‘No Strings’ is one of those records. I had to hear it again, and when I did, I wanted to hear it again, and again. Sometimes it’s best not to research records, you just need to listen and let your goosebumps do the talking”.

Now it?s time for the UK to get frisky! ?No Strings? is coming on strong with a whole bunch of hot and heavenly UK mixes, including Moto Blanco (Mary J Blige/Rihanna).

This is just Miss Lola?s calling card. Her follow up ?I Can’t Take It? is produced by Scott Storch of Beyonce, 50 Cent and Justin Timberlake fame.

?No Strings (Let?s Have Sex)? is released on Monday August 28th on Ebul Records.
